Li Auto L9

The Li Auto L9 features a cabin designed to feel like home, showcasing the brand’s Ultra Smart Space concept with state-of-the-art technologies and premium creature comforts like a two-pane panoramic sunroof. This SUV comes with Nappa leather seats with 3D sponge that offer outstanding cushioning and support for all passengers. The first- and second-row seats are equipped with a ventilation and spa-grade 16-point massage functions, while the driver is also treated with a Magic Carpet driver seat with smart cushioning and a firmness adjustment feature.

In terms of practicality, its cabin can comfortably accommodate six passengers. The L9 comes with an extra-large trunk that offers generous space for groceries, luggage, and other road trip essentials. For convenience and added functionality, this SUV is also equipped with an 8.8-liter ultra-large capacity warmer/refrigerator, a sunken storage compartment, a second-row right side folding table, front-row wireless chargers, multiple USB Type-C ports, two 12V sockets, a 220V socket, as well as multiple cup holders around the cabin.

Aside from that, the dashboard is dominated by two 15.7-inch Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered displays, one functioning as the central infotainment screen and the other as a dedicated entertainment display for the front passenger. Its infotainment system is paired with a 21-speaker Platinum audio system. Rear passengers can also enjoy a 15.7-inch rear entertainment display for a more personalized experience. Meanwhile, the driver has access to an HD projection heads-up display, as well as a Nappa leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with a safe driving touch bar display. 

The Li Auto L9’s hypermodern design looks sleek and smart at the same time. At the front, it sports a wraparound light bar and ‘run-through halo’ headlights, which give its fascia a futuristic appeal, especially at night. This SUV is fitted with an active air-intake grille that provides smoother airflow and optimized cooling. Both trims are equipped with LED low-speed steering assist lights, while the higher-spec Ultra trim also gets LED smart driving assist lights.

From the side, the L9 showcases a streamlined silhouette and commanding proportions, with flush door handles contributing to its clean, uninterrupted profile. LED side marker lights are integrated into its door mirrors, adding a premium, modern touch to its overall appearance on the road. The higher-spec Ultra trim also comes with power footboards for enhanced passenger convenience. This SUV runs on aerodynamic-looking 21-inch wheels with rims finished in either silver-grey or black-grey and are wrapped in silent tyres.

Meanwhile, its clean, futuristic styling carries over to the rear, highlighted by its run-through halo tail lights, fog lamps, and a concealed rear window wiper. Additionally, a small spoiler contributes a hint of sportiness to its rear design. For added storage and practicality, this SUV also comes with mounting holes for roof racks.

In terms of dimensions, the Li Auto L9 model line measures 5,218 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height. This 6-seater SUV also comes with a 3,105-mm wheelbase.

The Li Auto L9 comes with a Double Wishbone suspension at the front and a Five-Link at the rear. Its suspension setup is also equipped with the brand’s Magic Carpet Air Suspension Max technology. This advanced setup enables the SUV to adapt exceptionally well to a variety of road conditions, resulting in a supple and very luxurious riding experience for everyone on board. In the city, it also handles quite well for its size.

The Li Auto L9 is powered by the brand’s advanced REEV technology that combines front and rear electric motors, generating 330 kW of total system power and 620 Nm of total system torque, with a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo engine that primarily acts as a range extender. Feeding its dual-motor setup is a 52.3-kWh Ternary Lithium battery that offers a CLTC pure EV range of 280 kilometers. With this in mind, its entire range-extended electric powertrain delivers an impressive 1,412-km CLTC combined range.

The L9 comes mated to a single-speed electric vehicle transmission and utilizes a front and rear motor four-wheel drivetrain. This SUV is also equipped with four selectable driving modes: Comfort, Standard, Sport, and Performance. That said, this REEV feels super peppy on the highway, yet remains efficient and refined in stop-and-go traffic. Its power delivery is smooth and instantaneous, enhancing the driver’s overall experience on the open road. Overall, the L9 is an outstanding long-distance tourer and a cost-effective daily city companion. 

In terms of safety, the Li Auto L9 Ultra features a NVIDIA-powered Li Pilot Assistance AD Max technology, while the base Pro gets the Horizon Robotics Journey-powered Assistance AD Pro counterpart. Both trims are equipped with multiple perception cameras (front, side, and rear), a surround view camera, a forward millimeter wave radar, an attention warning system, a capacitive hand detection system and a vibration alert on its steering wheel, as well as a total of 12 ultrasonic radars, among others. The Ultra trim also gets a 128-line LiDAR feature. Additionally, this SUV comes with front and rear ventilated disc brakes supported by an electronic braking assistance system.

In my opinion, the Li Auto L9 is a great representation of future-ready mobility. It is a well-rounded option for families seeking a luxury vehicle that can offer a mix of comfort, advanced technology and safety, performance, and everyday practicality.
