MINI Aceman Review

MINI Aceman Overview
MINI Philippines expanded its range in the country’s EV scene with the introduction of its Aceman, a four-door crossover, last February. This all-electric crossover offers a practical and sustainable take on MINI’s signature go-kart handling, blending its predecessors’ classic performance with an emission-free peppy powertrain that delivers an exhilarating cruising experience for everyone. Positioned between the MINI Cooper hatch and the MINI Countryman SUV, the Aceman is available in two variants - SE, which starts at ₱3.55 million, and the high-performance JCW (John Cooper Works), which starts at ₱4.199 million.
-
MINI Aceman Interior
The MINI Aceman’s cabin offers a mix of cutting-edge technology and driver-centric features. Both variants come with John Cooper Works seats that provide supportive cushioning and great ergonomics for all passengers. The driver’s seat has massage and memory functions. Both the driver and co-pilot seats are electrically-adjustable and have a heating function. Drivers of the high performance variant get a JCW steering wheel for more prestige, while SE drivers get a regular sport steering wheel that is still good-to-the-touch.
The high-tech cockpit provides the drivers with a head-up display and a 240 mm circular OLED central instrument display that also acts as the infotainment display. Its infotainment system is linked to a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, offering top-notch acoustics for everyone on board. The infotainment has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and digital radio, personal E-Sim 5G connectivity, a wireless phone charger, and a MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant. For better lighting and an overall aesthetic experience, this EV crossover comes with a panorama glass roof and an extended ambient lighting system with experience modes.
Its cabin has above average space, offering everyone on board with decent amounts of leg and head rooms. However, its second row space can still be improved. Two tall and large passengers at the back can fit comfortably, but three would be a different story.

MINI Aceman Exterior
The MINI Aceman showcases a chic exterior design that pays homage to MINI’s legacy. Unlike its predecessors that had a predominantly-round architecture, the Aceman features a two-box design, which exudes a more assertive and sportier appearance on the road. Its facade is defined by an octagonal outline on its fascia and a pair of unique-looking angular LED headlights, which have three light signature options. It is also given LED DRLs that surround the headlights. The SE comes with a blacked-out grille and a vibrant silver front skid plate for a stylish contrast.
Its two-toned side view is enhanced by blacked-out mirrors, wheel arches, claddings, and pillars. Meanwhile, the JCW variant features red sport stripes that blend well with its body-colored features, giving it a stylish motorsport vibe. The SE variant comes with two-tone (black and vibrant silver) 19-inch hexagram spoke wheels, while the JCW variant has two-tone (black and red) 19-inch strive spoke wheels with sport tyres.
Meanwhile, its horizontally-sculpted rear is also enhanced by angular LED lights with three light signatures. The SE variant features a dark-coloured spoiler, which improves its road grip and overall aerodynamic performance, and a vibrant silver skid plate. On the other hand, the JCW variant’s hindlook is predominantly in black or dark-coloured. Aside from these, the SE variant comes with an optional black roof for added contrast, while the JCW variant has a two-tone contrast roof, which embodies the unconventional power of the JCW line. Both variants come with roof rails for added convenience. The MINI Aceman measures 4,079 mm in length, 1,754 mm in width, 1,514 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,606 mm.
-
MINI Aceman Ride & Handling
The MINI Aceman SE utilizes a suspension combination of a MacPherson Strut at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. On the other hand, the JCW variant utilizes adaptive suspensions.
The Aceman boasts an impressive steering response for drivers who have an appetite for high-speed driving on smooth free-flowing roads. However, its handling has a tendency to be too firm (or stiff) when passing through rough roads and hitting sharp turns or corners, causing a frequent bouncy feeling inside the vehicle. But, overall, this car runs smoothly and has great road grip and stability in the city.
-
MINI Aceman Engine & Fuel Consumption
Both variants of the MINI Aceman are powered by a single front-wheel drive electric motor paired with a 54.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is tuned differently for each trim, resulting in different performance metrics and WLTP driving ranges.
The SE produces a maximum power of 160 kW (218 hp) and a maximum torque of 330 Nm, whereas the JCW has 190 kW (255 hp) of power and 350 Nm of torque. As for the range, the SE offers a maximum driving range of up to 406 km, while the JCW can go up to 355 km. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes.
For a small crossover, this accelerates really quickly. Its power delivery does not buffer, allowing you and your passengers to fully enjoy MINI’s go-kart experience when driving on highways at high speeds. It also has great NVH suppression, resulting in a quiet and peaceful ride inside. But, this car also offers an eargasmic artificial roar when you want a more immersive and exhilarating cruising experience. This car would definitely be an enjoyable daily cruiser in the city. However, when it comes to out-of-town trips, its driving range might be a bit limited. Hence, you must plan ahead before you decide to use this outside the city. It is equipped with three driving modes: Green, Core, and Go-Kart.
-
MINI Aceman Braking & Safety
The MINI Aceman is equipped with multiple driver assistance features such as an attentiveness assistant, high beam assist, rain sensor and automatic lights, speed limiter, tyre pressure monitoring system and repair kit, a warning triangle, adaptive cruise control, and a parking assistant with a 360-degree surround view. In terms of braking, it utilizes ventilated discs at the front, while regular discs at the rear.
-
MINI Aceman Verdict
The MINI Aceman represents a significant improvement over the previous Paceman in terms of all aspects. It offers exciting power delivery, state-of-the-art technology, and an eye-catching timeless design. Hence, for a crossover that is targeted more towards elite consumers, it has the features to back up its premium price point.
