Omoda C5

Omoda really went all-out with the C5’s technological features. Upon entering this crossover, you’ll definitely notice its high-tech cockpit. It comes with dual 10.25-inch digital displays, which integrate a fully-digital driver’s instrument cluster with the touchscreen infotainment system, which has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an intelligent voice control. Its top variant’s infotainment is linked to an 8-speaker Sony Sound System that provides everyone on board with a premium immersive acoustic experience. Exclusive to the driver is a leather-wrapped multicontrol steering wheel and a gear lever that can provide a satisfying shifting experience. 

One downside with this vehicle’s tech-dominated cabin, however, is the abundance of touch controls. This might cause an inconvenience for older-generation drivers who are accustomed to using physical buttons.

For its price point, the Omoda C5 delivers impressive comfortability. It has well-padded sport bucket seats that provide supportive cushioning for all passengers. Its second row also has decent leg and head rooms for three passengers, making it a practical daily family vehicle. This crossover also comes with a wireless charger and a generous amount of trunk space for added convenience and functionality. 

The Omoda C5 sports a clean hypermodern look that exudes a balance of elegance and sportiness. At the front, it sports a ‘Star Diamond Grille’ with chrome accents, which gives it a unique expensive look on the road. Above this grille is the ‘OMODA’ lettering that emphasizes this crossover’s identity. It comes with LED headlights and DRLs. Meanwhile, on the sides, its two-tone silhouette is very noticeable. It has red accents on its side mirrors, side skirts, and even on its 18-inch wheels for the higher trims. The base variant gets a set of 17-inch wheels. In addition, its floating roof design enhances its sporty futuristic appearance.

Meanwhile, at the rear, it has an X-through-type piano-key pattern tail lamp, giving off a very sharp and distinctive hindlook. For convenience, it comes with a power trunk lid for easier loading and unloading of cargo and baggage. The Omoda C5 measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,588 mm in height. It has a 2,630 mm wheelbase.

In terms of suspension, the Omoda C5 line utilizes a combination of a McPherson Strut at the front and a Torsion Beam at the rear. This crossover has good absorption of bumps and can run smoothly in the city. It is also very easy to steer or maneuver even when hitting turns or corners. Its handling might not be the best or most responsive in its class, but it can still deliver a plush and comfortable cruising experience for you and your passengers. 

The Omoda C5 offers two powertrain options. First, its base variant, Lifestyle, is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine that has a maximum power of 114 hp and a maximum torque of 143 Nm. On the other hand, the top and mid variants are both powered by a 1.5L turbocharged engine that produces a maximum power of 154 hp and a maximum torque of 230 Nm. The top and mid variants run on CVT25 (continuously variable transmission), while the base variant runs on CVT18. All variants utilize a front-wheel drivetrain. 

This car is engineered to be a practical city cruiser. It has a surprisingly good power delivery and decent fuel economy. However, when it comes to running on highways at high speeds, this car’s powertrain has a tendency to struggle or become sluggish. But, overall, this crossover has just the right amount of power and torque for its price point.

The Omoda C5’s top variant is equipped with 12 advanced driver assistance systems, which include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping, and automatic low/high beam switching to name a few. Both the top and mid variants also come with a 360-degree HD panoramic camera and six airbags. Meanwhile, the base variant only has 4 airbags and a back camera. In terms of braking, this crossover utilizes ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear.

For its price point, the Omoda C5 is impressively well-equipped for a five-seater crossover, making it a strong choice for daily drivers seeking comfort, modern technology, and premium features without stretching their budget.
