Honda CRF450R Overview
The Honda CRF450R is the Japanese brand’s flagship off-road competition motorcycle in the local lineup. This non-street legal motorcycle is designed to take on even the most unpleasant off-road trails, offering a mix of smooth, linear power delivery and exceptional handling and stability. It exudes immense power and dominance on the track. Priced at ₱525,000, the CRF450R is available in a single colour option: Extreme Red.

Honda CRF450R Design
The Honda CRF450R flaunts a new aluminum design frame with some features reminiscent of previous generation models. It has a rugged character with a subtle hint of sportiness, accentuated by its bright-coloured CRF decal. Since this is a non-street legal motorcycle, it doesn’t come with typical front and rear lighting or a rider’s instrument display. That said, its bare design heavily focuses on functionality rather than aesthetics.
On the side, it comes with a redesigned airbox, which improves air flow and enhances its engine’s overall performance on the track. This off-road competition motorcycle comes with a blacked-out engine guard and an aluminum muffler. A front Showa USD fork finished in a golden-coloured trim also adds more detail to its overall silhouette. The rider gets a supportive saddle, three engine mode select buttons, and an HRC Launch Control.
In terms of size, the Honda CRF450R measures 2,183 mm in length, 827 mm in width, 1,265 mm in overall height, and 961 mm in seat height. This off-road motorcycle comes with a 1,482-mm wheelbase and a 333-mm ground clearance, which allows it to effectively take on severe rocky and muddy tracks. Additionally, it runs on a pair of DID rim-branded wheels (21-inch at the front, 19-inch at the rear). Ultimately, the CRF450R’s design is durable and lightweight at the same time.

Honda CRF450R Ride & Handling
In terms of suspension, the Honda CRF450R is equipped with 49-mm Showa USD Forks at the front, while a 310-mm Stroke at the rear. Admittedly, its suspension setup is on the stiffer side of things. Hence, bumps and other obstacles are quite noticeable when riding this off-road motorcycle. However, the tradeoffs for its stiffer suspension are exceptional stability and very sharp handling. It is very confidence-inspiring to ride on the dirt track’s sharp turns or corners. It is light and very maneuverable, while delivering great feedback. Comfort might not be its biggest asset, but it excels in the areas that truly matter on the track.

Honda CRF450R Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Honda CRF450R is powered by a 450-cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, uni-cam engine that produces a maximum power output of 55 hp and a maximum torque of 49 Nm. This off-road competition motorcycle comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. As mentioned before, this bike is equipped with three engine modes that can adjust its engine’s power delivery, namely, Standard, Smooth, and Aggressive.
That said, its engine’s power delivery is smooth and linear, allowing the rider to confidently take on steep inclines when competing. This off-road motorcycle runs with great enthusiasm and purpose. Aside from these, thanks to its redesigned airbox, the rider can enjoy this bike’s enhanced throttle control and higher top-end power. All things considered, the CRF450R’s engine remains one of the best in its class.
-
Honda CRF450R Braking & Safety
As mentioned above, the Honda CRF450R is equipped with an engine guard and an HRC Launch Control. This off-road competition motorcycle utilizes hydraulic discs for both front and rear braking (front: 260-mm disc, rear: 240-mm disc). Its brake setup delivers a responsive stopping power and better feel, which ensures that the rider is safe at all times.
-
Honda CRF450R Verdict
Currently, the Honda CRF450R remains as one of the most compelling off-road motorcycle options within the local market. It is a very well-designed bike for seasoned off-roaders and competitors who want to compete at a high level on the dirt track. It is lightweight, smooth, and can deliver exceptional handling and stability–all of which make it a dominant force off-road.
