Honda EM1 e:

The Honda EM1 e: features a smart, hypermodern look, which emphasizes its electrified character wherever it goes. Its front end is illuminated by a futuristic-looking LED headlight assembly. Underneath, it comes with a body-coloured front fender. 

On the sides, this electric scooter flaunts a two-toned silhouette, accentuated by its blacked-out floorboard, saddle, and tubeless wheels (front: 12-inch cast, rear: 10-inch composite). A branding sticker is placed on its side fairing for added detail. Aside from these, its smart, modern personality carries over to its rear. It comes with a slim, rectangular LED tail light. And, for more visibility, this scooter also gets LED signal lights both at the front and rear. Underneath, a black fender completes its rear design.

Upfront, the rider has access to a digital meter panel, a front inner pocket with a USB Type-A charging port, well-positioned handle grips, and aluminum brake levers. This scooter comes with a small under-seat compartment, which can only accommodate handheld items. However, buyers may avail the optional top box for more storage.

In terms of comfort, its seat offers good cushioning and ergonomics for the rider but is a bit thin and narrow on the pillion’s side. Hence, this might compromise the comfort level of taller and larger passengers when filtering through traffic. On the flip side, this scooter comes with a built-in rear carrier (which can also function as a pillion grab bar) and a pillion step on each side. 

In terms of dimensions, the Honda EM1 e: measures 1,859 mm in length, 681 mm in width, 1,078 mm in overall height, and 740 mm in seat height. This electric scooter also comes with a 1,300-mm wheelbase and a 136-mm ground clearance.

In terms of suspension, the Honda EM1 e: comes with a Telescopic Fork at the front and Twin Shock Absorbers at the rear. Its setup offers a right balance of firmness and softness on the road. It is light and very nimble to maneuver even through the traffic-heavy urban pavements. It can also handle small bumps and other minor road imperfections quite decently. Ultimately, this electric scooter is capable of delivering a pleasant riding experience for you and your passenger inside the city.

The EM1 e: is powered by Honda’s in-wheel, brushless, 3-phase motor that generates a maximum power output of 1.71 kW (2.3 PS) and a maximum torque of 90 Nm. Its motor is powered by a 26.1-Ah Lithium Ion battery that offers a 41.3-km standard range (Econ - 48km). Its battery supports a fast charging time of 25% to 75% in 160 minutes. This electric scooter is also equipped with two riding modes: Standard and Econ.

At first glance, the EM1 e:’s power output might not be the most exciting, but it is surprisingly peppy off the line. While it is not suited for quick overtaking, it still has enough power and torque to handle everyday commuting without issues. 

However, since its electric powertrain offers a very limited range, it is better suited for short-distance travels and personal leisure trips. On the flip side, this electric scooter can deliver a smooth, efficient, and very quiet ride within the Metro.

In terms of safety, the Honda EM1 e: is equipped with a secured key shutter, which protects the scooter from potential theft at all times. This electric scooter utilizes a hydraulic disc for front braking and a mechanical leading trailing drum for the rear. 

The Honda EM1 e: is an accessible and sensible way to own your first all-electric scooter. It is stylish, city-friendly, and very cost-effective in the long run. In my opinion, giving this scooter more safety features in the future could increase its competitiveness in the local market.
