Honda Giorno

The Honda Giorno’s modern-classic design might not be the flashiest in its segment, but it exudes a subtle sophisticated vibe capable of catching the attention of the people around it. Its appearance is defined by a mix of classy brown features, chrome accents, and utilitarian elements finished in black. At the front, it features a ‘Modern Ring’ LED headlight with position lights. A small black panel on its smooth front fairing proudly displays the ‘HONDA’ lettering. 

Upfront, the rider gets a full-digital meter panel, brown handle grips, and aluminum brake levers. Its two-tone brown seat cover adds more depth to its overall appearance on the road. This seat is wide and very well-padded, ensuring that your pillion is also comfortable. However, this seat might make shorter riders feel that the scooter is slightly taller than its claimed seat height, which could be an issue when filtering through traffic or traveling long distances. On the flip side, this scooter comes with a built-in pillion grab bar. 

In terms of storage and practicality, the Giorno offers a 30-L under-seat luggage box that can accommodate a half-face helmet and various handheld belongings. It also comes with a 2.4-L console box, which houses a USB charging port for your phone, and a luggage hook. 

Going back to design, a 3D Giorno emblem is also placed on this scooter’s side fairing. Its black heat guard and 12-inch cast wheels add a subtle sporty touch to its silhouette. Meanwhile, its rear is illuminated by a rectangular LED tail light. The Honda Giorno measures 1,902 mm in length, 681 mm in width, 1,144 mm in overall height, and 780 mm in seat height. This scooter also has a wheelbase of 1,312 mm and a ground clearance of 155 mm.

The Honda Giorno comes with a Telescopic Fork suspension at the front and a Unit Swing at the rear. This setup offers just the right amount of stiffness on the road. This scooter is light and very maneuverable even through tight traffic and narrow streets. And, on top of this, it delivers decent absorption of light to moderate bumps for its size. 

Powering the Honda Giorno is a 125-cc, 4-stroke, 4-valve, SOHC, liquid-cooled, eSP+ engine that produces a maximum power output of 8.49 kW (12 PS) and a maximum torque of 11.6 Nm. This scooter’s motor is mated to an automatic (V-Matic) transmission gearbox. Additionally, the Giorno is equipped with Honda’s Idling Stop System (ISS), which enhances its overall efficiency.

The Giorno is surprisingly peppy, especially at lower RPMs. It is no sports bike, but it isn’t a slouch either. Its transmission system is smooth and responsive. It is a breeze to ride inside the city and, at the same time, excels in terms of efficiency. This scooter boasts an impressive fuel consumption (WMTC mode) of 47 kmpl, making it an ideal, cost-effective two-wheeler for your daily commute within the traffic-heavy Metro Manila.

In terms of safety, the Giorno is equipped with Honda’s Combined Brake System (CBS), a smart key system, side reflectors, and an anti-theft alarm. This scooter utilizes a hydraulic disc for front braking and a mechanical leading trailing drum for the rear. 

Currently, the Honda Giorno stands out as a compelling option within the local neo-retro scooter segment. For its price, it offers an impressive mix of comfort, practicality, and smooth performance. It showcases a ride that is both stylish and novice-friendly.
