Indian Challenger Limited

The Indian Challenger Limited’s bagger design looks macho and elegant at the same time. It flaunts the brand’s signature ‘Pursuit’ fairing flanked by an assertive-looking LED headlamp assembly with curved or C-shaped LED turn signals. It also comes with an adjustable windshield.

Upfront, the rider is greeted by a 7-inch RIDE COMMAND-powered display that is equipped with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, configurable gauges, and ride stats among others and is linked to two 50-W fairing speakers (100 watts in total). Its instrument cluster, which is mounted on its front fairing, features 15 LED telltale indicators, analogue speedometer and tachometer with fuel gauge, range, odometer, and current gear.

In terms of comfort and practicality, this bagger comes with a 2-up ‘Gunfighter Style’ seat, which is well-padded and very ergonomic even for riders and passengers under 6ft. That said, finding a good riding position is not going to be a problem on the Challenger Limited. Additionally, it offers over 68 litres of storage, courtesy of its remote-locking hard saddlebags on each side. 

Going back to its design, this high-end touring motorbike flaunts a clean, two-toned silhouette, accentuated by blacked-out features and chrome finishes. Its split exhaust pipes with a resonator add more detail to its overall appearance. This bagger runs on a pair of 10-spoke machined cast wheels (front: 19-inch, rear: 16-inch) wrapped in Metzeler Cruisetec tyres. Meanwhile, its rear is illuminated by an LED tail lamp with round LED turn signals. 

In terms of dimensions, the Indian Challenger Limited measures 2,503 mm in length, 1,063 mm in width, 1,237 mm in overall height, and 672 mm in seat height. This bagger also comes with a wheelbase of 1,668 mm and a ground clearance of 137 mm.

In terms of suspension, the Indian Challenger Limited is equipped with a 130-mm Inverted Telescopic Fork at the front and a 114-mm Single Shock Absorber with Hydraulic Preload Adjustment at the rear. This setup is credited for this bagger’s sharp and precise handling through corners. It is also agile to maneuver since it masks its weight so well. However, take extra precautions when filtering this wide bagger through traffic. Overall, the Challenger Limited can deliver a supple and enjoyable ride for you and your passenger. 

The Indian Challenger Limited is powered by a 1,834-cc, liquid-cooled PowerPlus 112 engine that produces a maximum power output of 122 hp and a maximum torque of 181.4 Nm. This bagger’s motor is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. It is also equipped with three ride modes: Standard, Sport, and Rain. 

Even in Standard mode, this bagger does not hesitate to show its enthusiastic and revvy nature. It roars like a powerful sportbike at higher RPMs, yet remains refined at lower speeds. Its PowerPlus engine is just so smooth, making it a very enjoyable ride on the highway. And, since its engine is liquid-cooled, you wouldn’t have to worry about intense heat and vibrations. One of this bagger’s downsides, however, is that its range tends to drop when ridden spiritedly over long distances. 

In terms of safety, the Indian Challenger Limited is equipped with cruise control, ABS, and multiple advanced rider assist features such as blind spot warning, rear collision warning lights, bike hold control, electronically linked brakes, and tailgate warning. Meanwhile, in terms of braking, this bagger comes with dual semi-floating rotors with Brembo calipers at the front and a single floating rotor at the rear.

The Indian Challenger Limited is one of the most well-rounded premium touring motorbikes in the local market. This bagger is an outstanding long-distance tourer and, at the same time, a respectable high-speed performer.
