Suzuki GSX-8R

The Suzuki GSX-8R’s sporty design radiates immense youthfulness and confidence wherever it goes. It features an assertive-looking front end accentuated by a sharp beak and a sleek windscreen. It delivers top-notch illumination and visibility at night courtesy of its LED headlights and position light. 

On the sides, it has a very sporty silhouette enhanced by motorsport decals and premium monotone finishes. It comes with blacked-out engine side covers, heat guards, and 17-inch wheels. Meanwhile, its assertive personality is also evident in its rear. It comes with a sleek LED taillight and modern indicator lights. 

Aside from these, riders have access to a customizable 5-inch color TFT LCD multifunction instrument panel that displays valuable real-time information. Its well-padded dual-stepped seat offers impressive comfort for the rider and pillion both on short and long-distance trips. In terms of suspension, the Suzuki GSX-8R comes with an oil-damped combination of a front Inverted Telescopic Fork and a rear Link Type. Both its front and rear suspensions come with a Coil Spring for enhanced grip and better stability. That said, you will be able to confidently pass through unpleasant twisties and winding roads even at high speeds with this sportbike. A downside of its suspension setup, however, is its inability to conceal the bike's pretty heavy weight when the rider is filtering through tight traffic and narrow streets at low speeds. But, on the plus side, it feels very refined and comfortable when cruising on a straight line. 

The Suzuki GSX-8R is powered by a 776-cc, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that has a maximum power output of 83 hp and a maximum torque of 78 Nm. This sportbike’s motor is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh (manual) transmission gearbox.

On the highway, the GSX-8R delivers a nice kick and a satisfying roar, catching the attention of fellow riders and regular onlookers whenever it passes by. This middleweight sportbike is also very capable on the race track thanks to its engine’s smooth, linear power delivery. And, thanks to Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist, it is also very usable when cruising through the crowded Metro Manila areas. Ultimately, for a sportbike, this offers commendable versatility and track capability.

In terms of safety, the Suzuki GSX-8R comes with Suzuki’s cutting-edge electronic rider aids such as a traction control system, a bi-directional quick shift system, and multiple riding modes, which give the rider more flexibility and control depending on his or her current riding conditions. This sportbike features twin discs for front braking, while a single disc for the rear. This braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system.

In my opinion, the Suzuki GSX-8R certainly justifies its price point through an impressive blend of high-level performance both on the race track and on the highway and everyday usability in the city. It is a strong choice for discerning buyers who want a sportbike that looks the part and yet delivers more than just visual appeal.
