Suzuki GSX-8T

The Suzuki GSX-8T features a clean, retro design that resembles cafe racers of the past. Suzuki did a great job making its facade look classic by giving it a flat-bottom mono-round headlight, which is inspired by the headlights of 60s and 70s Suzuki motorcycles, along with round handlebar end mirrors. Upfront, the rider gets a customizable 5-inch color TFT instrument panel that displays the tachometer, speedometer, odometer, and the fuel gauge among others.

One of this roadster’s main assets is its well-padded tuck-and-roll seat that provides top-notch comfort and ergonomics for both the rider and pillion even on longer rides out of town. However, its seat is pretty high for the average Filipino rider, which might compromise their comfort level when passing through Metro Manila’s crowded areas. Aside from these, it also has a fast-charging USB Type-C socket for more convenience. 

Moreover, its naked bike side profile looks brash yet classy at the same time courtesy of its black engine side covers, 17-inch wheels, and a stainless steel muffler cover. Its bulky fuel tank also makes it appear more robust and confident on the road. Aside from these, it has a sharp-looking rear illuminated by an LED taillight and sleek indicator lights.

Overall, the Suzuki GSX-8T measures 2,115 mm in length, 775 mm in width, 1,105 mm in overall height, and 815 mm in seat height. It has a 1,465 mm wheelbase and a 145 mm ground clearance.

The Suzuki GSX-8T utilizes an oil-damped suspension combination of a front Inverted Telescopic Fork and a rear Link Type. This setup comes with front and rear Coil Springs. Thanks to this setup, you will be able to confidently hit sharp turns and corners despite its macho build. And, in the city, it offers top-notch maneuverability and effective absorption of light to moderate bumps and other road imperfections. And, on top of this, you and your pillion can enjoy a plush and very stable ride out on the open road.  

The Suzuki GSX-8T is powered by a 776-cc, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces a maximum power output of 81 hp and a maximum torque of 77 Nm. Its engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh (manual) transmission gearbox. 

Similar to its double T counterpart (GSX-8TT), its engine also delivers an eargasmic roar and an exhilarating pull on the open road. Its transmission is very smooth and responsive thanks to Suzuki’s Clutch Assist System. In the city, it is also an enjoyment to ride this neo-retro roadster even when filtering through tight traffic and narrow streets courtesy of its Low RPM Assist. Ultimately, the GSX-8T is quick and powerful on the highway yet remains refined and efficient at low speeds.

 Safety is not an issue for the Suzuki GSX-8T. Like its newer-gen cousins, it also comes with Suzuki’s advanced electronic rider aids, namely a bi-directional quick shift system, traction control system, and multiple riding modes. In terms of braking, it features front twin discs and a rear single disc, combined to deliver great stopping power even at high speeds. This setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system.

Setting its pretty expensive price aside, the Suzuki GSX-8T is a very compelling option among the new-generation neo-retro bikes because of its commendable performance and impeccable versatility. It masterfully combines top-notch comfort and advanced technology with a classic riding experience on the road.
