Suzuki GSX-R1000R

The Suzuki GSX-R1000R’s design just screams power and confidence wherever it goes. Upfront, it has an aggressive facade accentuated by a sharp beak, a modern-looking LED headlight, and very functional Suzuki Ram Air-Direct (SRAD) air intakes, which help its engine generate more power at high speeds and achieve enhanced efficiency. This sportbike comes with an HD digital instrument panel that helps riders perform at their best when on the go. 

One of this bike’s downsides, however, is its high seat height, which might be a bit of an inconvenience for riders under 6ft when cruising through tight city traffic at low speeds. But, on the plus side, its material is very supportive and provides top-notch comfort for both the rider and pillion on free-flowing highways.

Meanwhile, its muscular side profile displays a stylish blend of bright-coloured motorsport decals and blacked-out finishes. This sportbike runs on a robust pair of 17-inch wheels. Trailing behind this sportbike would definitely be enjoyable because of its very sporty hindlook illuminated by an LED taillight. For better track and highway performance, it comes with Suzuki’s Exhaust Tuning System and adjustable swingarm pivots.

In terms of dimensions, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R is 2,075 mm in length, 705 mm in width, 1,145 mm in overall height, and 825 mm in seat height. It has a wheelbase of 1,420 mm and a ground clearance of 130 mm, which slightly limits this bike’s capability to absorb deep potholes and large bumps on Metro Manila’s concrete roads.

In terms of suspension, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R utilizes an oil-damped combination of a front Inverted Telescopic Fork with Coil Spring and a rear Link Type with Coil Spring. Thanks to this suspension setup, this bike can offer pretty agile maneuverability even when filtering through city traffic at low speeds. However, if you really want to maximize this bike’s comfort level, you should take it on the highway. Additionally, this setup also helps the rider confidently hit sharp turns or corners at high speeds. 

The Suzuki GSX-R1000R is powered by a 999.8 cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that has a maximum power output of 144.9 kW (194 hp) and a maximum torque of 117 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh (manual) transmission gearbox.

For starters, this sportbike is exceptionally quick off the line, allowing professional racers to compete at a very high level. Supported by Suzuki’s broad power system, its engine generates a very punchy, linear power delivery both on the race track and on free-flowing highways. And, thanks to a Clutch Assist System, you will be able to enjoy smooth downshifts and better deceleration control with this bike. That said, this bike can effortlessly perform overtakes at high speeds. Meanwhile, in the city, the GSX-R1000R can also effectively perform as your daily commuter since it generates a surprisingly good fuel economy for sportbike standards.

The Suzuki GSX-R1000R is equipped with Suzuki’s state-of-the-art electronic rider aids, namely, a Motion Track Brake System with an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), a Traction Control System, a Bi-Directional Quick Shift System, and multiple riding modes. It is also protected by an advanced immobilizer system. In terms of braking, it comes with front twin discs and a rear single disc. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system. 

In my opinion, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R is a near-perfect sportbike, which can deliver the performance, technology, and handling required for professional racers to compete at the highest level and contend for a podium finish. On the other hand, for discerning buyers, this is also a pretty versatile bike, offering impressive highway comfort and pretty decent city usability.
