Foton Hurricane EST-M

The interior cabin of the Foton Hurricane EST-M is not something that is revolutionary or completely groundbreaking. However, the overall layout and appearance of the dashboard feel pleasant and it is nowhere bland or date in visual appeal.

The driver’s cockpit, which is a combination of a four-spoke steering wheel and a conventional-looking all-analog instrument console, looks plain. Though the curved theme for the dashboard, with its center console having rectangular panels for AC controls, 1-DIN audio system, switchboards, and small storage panels looks quite appealing. The cabin feels furthermore practical by the presence of a flatbed behind the seats as well a couple of bottle holders present in between the transmission lever.

Having a keen focus on function over form, the Foton Hurricane EST-M belongs to the conventional brigade of heavy-duty commercial trucks. Though, in order to distinguish it from others, Foton has done a commendable job in making the Foton Hurricane EST-M look quite bold as compared to others.

When viewed head-on, the Foton Hurricane EST-M looks quite huge, with its front profile being covered partially by the large rectangular windshield, which has got rounded edges on all of its four edges. The bottom line of the windshield is assisted by a sleek trapezoidal bar, which serves as mounts for the windshield wipers.

The lower half of the front profile of the Foton Hurricane EST-M has got a huge grille, which also extends towards the front bumper. The portion of the grille on the front apron is shaped in the form of a trapezium and has got a rounded Foton logo in the center. At the same time, the lower part of the grille, which is extended to the front bumper, has got a V-like design.

Below the lower part of the grille on the front bumper, the Foton Hurricane EST-M has got a wide trapezoidal air duct. The outer corners of the front bumper are fixed with contemporary-looking headlamps, which come garnished with daytime running LEDs. Another interesting element here is the presence of shark fin-shaped fog lamps present on the lower corners of the front bumper.

From the side too, the passenger cabin of the Foton Hurricane EST-M looks quite wide when compared to the others. As in most of the trucks, the window line tapers down and the A-pillar comes mounted with rearview mirrors. To make it appear tough, the semi-squared flared wheel arches have been garnished with body cladding.

The Foton Hurricane EST-M is quite a promising heavy load hauler with a payload capacity of 13,060 kg, thus making it a desirable heavy-duty truck for those who are looking for a capable medium-sized truck. The Foton Hurricane EST-M rides on six 22.5 inches wheels and has a dump box capacity of 9 CBM.

The Foton Hurricane EST-M has been bestowed with a torquey ISB-220-40 inline six-cylinder, water-cooled, four-stroke, direct injection, turbocharged, intercooled diesel engine. With a maximum displacement of 5900cc, this engine is capable of pumping out a maximum power output of 220 PS at 2500rpm.

The Foton Hurricane EST-M has been equipped with a few modern-day safety features like ABS with EBD, collision mitigation system, anti-slip regulator, collapsible steering column, and strategically placed outer rearview mirrors, which do serve the purpose of a reverse camera.

The Foton Hurricane EST-M has still got a long way to go when it comes to reliability and after-sales support when compared to traditional Japanese heavy-duty commercial trucks. However, the Foton Hurricane EST-M is a promising package when you see its specifications and features onboard.
