Isuzu F-Series

The squared theme of the exterior design of the Isuzu F-Series has been well executed on the inside as well. There are a number of four-sided panels present in the cabin of the truck, which does make the cabin very practical, but at the same time, dated to look at.

Behind the two-spoke steering wheel of the Isuzu F-Series, there is a large rectangular themed dashboard, which comes with a number of rectangular-shaped panels, such as an instrument console with an all-analog display, vertical AC vents on the corners of the dashboard and sides of the centre console, 1-DIN audio system, AC switch panel and storage bins. The co-passenger side of the dashboard comes with a closed glove box, while the transmission lever is placed between the front seats in a conventional manner.

For a medium-sized commercial truck, the Isuzu F-Series has got the perfect dimensions, which make it large enough to make it noticeable on road as a slightly full-sized truck. The squared-off design from the front is simple to look at but is far off from being dated.

The Isuzu F-Series has a front profile divided into two parts – upper and lower. While the upper front profile comes with a large windshield, the lower one has a simple-looking grille and bumper adorned on it. The front windshield has rounded corners, while the lower edges carry a tapered look.

The lower part of the front profile, as mentioned above, looks simple but with an all-black plastic made front grille, which comes with two horizontal slats placed one over the other. The upper edges of the grille have a tapered look, while the lower edges merge into the front bumper design.

There are large trapezoidal headlamps mounted on the lower corners of the front apron, with the upper housing in it being the turn indicators and the lower housings being the main headlamp units. The front bumper looks a tad too basic and rounds off the look of the Isuzu F-Series from the front.

The Isuzu F-Series has a clean looking side profile, which is mainly consisted of trapezoidal shaped side window panels with tapering down lower window line and rearview mirrors hinged on the doors. The half-squared wheel arches do come with very thick looking body cladding over them. The door panels also come adorned with vertically laid outdoor handles.

A series of multi-leaf springs have been mounted at both the front and rear of the Isuzu F-Series for suspension duties. For brakes, the Isuzu F-Series is armed with drum type air hydraulic brakes in lower variants and drum-type full air brakes in premium versions.

All the variants of the Isuzu F-Series are powered by separate engine options, all of which are obviously diesel-powered. The FRR90 M gets a 5.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which makes 190 PS of power and 510 Nm of torque. The FTR90 M and FTR90 S do get the same 5.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, but in a different state of tune – 210 PS of power and 706 Nm of torque.

Then comes the FVR34 Q, which gets a 7.8-liter six-cylinder diesel engine churning out 240 PS of power and 706 Nm of torque. The same 7.8-liter six-cylinder diesel engine makes 280 PS of power and 882 Nm of torque in the bigger FVM34 T and FVM34 Q.

Except ABS, there is no other safety feature present in the Isuzu F-Series.

The Isuzu F-Series might have a very basic visual appeal in and out, with a lack of features further strengthening its dated appeal. However, under the skin, it is a very capable product when it comes to putting it for commercial usage purposes.
