JMC N700

The overall cabin layout of the JMC N700 looks far better and much more contemporary than the one offered by the basic entry-level JMH range of trucks. The cabin of the JMC N700 looks very modern and well laid out for a light-duty truck of its segment.

The overall layout of the cabin feels very car-like, with a decent looking two-spoke steering wheel and a nice looking instrument console, the former of which gets audio controls mounted on it. The black-coloured trapezoidal center console stands out in the otherwise dull grey themed interior finish.

This center console accommodates small rounded rectangular AC vents on its upper corners with an open cavity between them for storage purposes. The lower part of the center console gets a 1-DIN audio system and another small storage bin below it. The bottom portion of the center console gets three manually operated dials for the AC.

The overall styling of the JMC N700 is not an eye-catching one, but it would be wrong to say that it looks dated and pale. For its category, the JMC N700 has a decently good and well-proportioned design, which does make it look slightly premium over the other light-duty trucks on sale in the country.

The front profile of the JMC N700 has a squared outlook when viewed head-on. The upper portion of the JMC N700, as expected, is majorly covered by a large windshield, which manages to add a bit of rounded effect, thanks to its rounded upper edges and tapered lower edges. Just below the tapered lower corners of the front windshield, there are small protrusions mounted on the front apron, which serve as the mounts for the wraparound styled rearview mirrors.

The lower portion of the front profile looks simple with a three slat design for the front grille, with the upper two slats shaped in the form of a trapezium and the lowermost one shaped like a sleek rectangle. The headlamps placed on either sides of the front grille are laid out in a vertical manner, with the trapezoidal units having rounded diagonal edges and incorporating both projector bulb for headlamp and clear lens turn indicators. The JMC N700 comes with a slim blacked-out front bumper, which also houses angular fog lamps.

The side profile of the JMC N700 looks plain with the trapezoidal side window panels which have tapering up shoulder line and vertical door handles. One unique bit here on the door panels is the shark fin styled clear lens turn indicators mounted on the bottom of the doors.

Underpinning the JMC N700 is a ladder on frame chassis which gets the added assistance of rigid leaf springs at both ends for the suspension setup. An air-operated service brake takes care of the braking duties of this four-wheeled truck.

The JMC N700 sources its power from a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder, Turbo-Intercooler, CRDi, Diesel Engine from the JX493ZLQ4 series engine from JMC. The engine is capable of putting up 108 PS of maximum power and 260 Nm of maximum torque, and is coupled to a basic Getrag-sourced 5-speed manual gearbox.

In the name of safety, the JMC N700 gets some additional optional safety features for a premium, like a GPS tracking device, electronic security buzzer and safety seat belts.

The JMC N700 retains all the strengths of the entry-level JMH range from the truck maker, and for the premium it commands, it offers a much better put together cabin, which surely gives it an upmarket feel.
