2020 Kia Soul named among 10 most dog-friendly cars

If you’re the “hooman-in-charge” of a four-legged friend, chances are your pet is a major consideration when you’re out shopping for cars. Especially if you intend to take her along with you frequently, you need to ensure that the car you buy provides her with utmost safety and comfort during travels.

A leading US resource for car shoppers and sellers has just named its list of 10 Best Cars for Dog Lovers for 2020, and the latest version of the Kia Soul has been chosen among them.

With the Kia Drive Wise suite of safety features which includes Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA) / FCA Pedestrian type, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Changing Assist (LCA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Blind-spot Collision Warning (BCW), Rear Cross Collision Warning (RCCW), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), and High Beam Assist (HBA), Kia Soul car owners can feel safe and confident whenever they travel with the entire family, pets included.

“The Soul has been a longstanding success because its versatility accommodates many different lifestyles,” said Sean Yoon, President and CEO of Kia Motors America and Kia Motors North America. “Whether you’re riding with your pup around town or packing the whole family up for a weekend road trip, the Soul is perfectly cut out for canines.”   

The Soul’s boxy body opens up an impressive amount of cargo and passenger space, and a wider and lower rear liftgate opening improves ingress and egress at the back for your furry animal. For 2021, the Soul is even more dog-friendly with the addition of standard Rear Occupant Alert, which utilizes ultrasonic sensors to detect and prevent rear occupants—hooman or otherwise—from being left behind in the rear seats.

The 2020 Kia Soul has been a winner for Kia Motors in many markets around the world, earning many accolades in safety such as a Top Safety Pick+ status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Although the Kia Soul has long been dropped from the South Korean carmaker’s Philippine lineup, the Kia Drive Wise suite is available in the locally sold 2019 Kia Stinger and upcoming Kia Stonic. The suite is also expected to appear in many of the brand’s upcoming models.
