576-hp Kia EV6 GT makes its debut at Monterey Car Week

Kia has presented the EV6 GT for the first time in North America at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering.

The all-electric performance crossover was highlighted at the 2022 Monterey Car Week.

“The EV6 GT ushers in the next chapter of the Plan S electrification story for Kia, elevating the EV6’s thrilling performance and effortless drivability beyond expectations. Moving toward our tailpipe zero-emissions goals has never been as exhilarating,” said Kia America Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice President Steven Center.

The arrival of the Kia EV6 GT, the most powerful Kia production vehicle yet produced, marks a new era for electrification and the Kia brand. Based on the award-winning E-GMP modular platform, the EV6 GT elevates the discourse and expands the limits surrounding electric performance vehicles.

At the heart of the Kia EV6 GT is a front-mounted 160-kilowatt (kW) motor and a rear-mounted 270kW motor powered by an energy-dense 77.4-kilowatt-hour (kWh) nickel-cobalt-manganese battery pack. The setup gives the EV6 GT the ability to produce a combined output of 576 horsepower (hp) and 740Nm of torque.

The Kia EV6 GT goes from zero to 60 miles per hour (mph) in as fast as 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 161mph.

According to Kia, independent testing performed by leading AMCI Testing shows that the EV6 GT out-accelerated a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD.

The performance upgrades that define the Kia EV6 GT also include a dedicated sport suspension with electronically controlled dampers as well as unique front suspension performance components.

The Kia EV6 GT will go on sale in the United States come the final quarter of 2022.
