British luxury sports car and grand tourer maker Aston Martin will release its upcoming V12 Speedster in a limited-edition, Le Mans-winning DBR1 build. According to Aston Martin, only 88 V12 Speedsters will be produced and the custom DBR1 specification is certain to underscore the cars’ instant collector’s item status.

Putting things into perspective, the DBR1 is Aston Martin’s most successful racing vehicle to date. It placed the brand on the map after having won the 1959 staging of both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 1,000 km of Nürburgring.

Reminiscent of the 24-hour race winner are the iconic Aston Martin Racing Green paint finish, Clubsport White pinstripe and roundels, a Satin Silver anodized grille with Clubsport “lipstick graphic,” as well as Conker saddle leather, Viridian Green technical textile, and Caithness leather.

A feature of the custom V12 Speedsters are the 21-inch center lock wheels in satin black diamond.

“Emotion and exclusivity are at the heart of this car. A rare and exceptional Aston Martin, It has been engineered to offer a visceral driving experience that belies its elegant, artistic shape. Creating a bespoke specification that nods to the glory of the DBR1 has been a huge privilege for my team and I, and I very much look forward to seeing these cars being driven with the same enthusiasm that we have applied to their design,” says Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman.

Each V12 Speedster spent more than 50 hours in the painting process alone at the brand’s advanced paint facility.

Performance-wise the V12 Speedster will come with a powerful variant of Aston Martin’s 5.2-liter V12 twin-turbo engine. It gives the DBR1-inspired sports car 690 buff horses and 753Nm of torque topping at 318kph.

Each DBR1 custom V12 Speedster will be built by hand at the company’s Gaydon headquarters according to Aston Martin. The company is now accepting commissions, and deliveries are expected to commence in mid 2021.

Hopeful owners of the DBR1 V12 Speedster can place an order through Aston Martin’s authorized dealership — Aston Martin Manila.
