Carmudi PH Bags Two Trophies at 2018 Henry Ford Awards

Ford Philippines recently held the awarding ceremonies of the annual Henry Ford Awards (HFA), with Carmudi Philippines capturing two trophies for the Carmudi Magazine Philippines. Online Editor Patrick Everett Tadeo bagged the Best Automotive Column for his "Talk Stir" column which appeared in the February 2017 issue while contributor Eric Tipan nabbed the Best Automotive Lifestyle Feature for his story "Songs for the Summer (Drive) of '17" which was printed in the March 2017 copy of the monthly publication. Carmudi Magazine Philippines is one of only two magazines to bag multiple awards for its editorial entries in the 17th year of the only award-giving program that honors the best and brightest works of the country's motoring journalists. According to Ford Philippines, the winners of the 16 categories were selected from a total of 210 entries "that were submitted by members of the print, online, and broadcast media whose stories, columns, photographs, and videos have collectively taken the Philippine automotive industry to a whole new level." To narrow down the entries to the top three contenders for the 16 categories, Ford Philippines sought the help of esteemed experts in the academe, corporate world, and the motoring industry. For the first phase, the judges included distinguished members of the academe, some of whom have been part of the HFA for the past years, like Dr. Severino Sarmenta, Jr. (Former Chair, Department of Communication, Ateneo de Manila University), Dr. Elena Pernia (Dean, College of Mass Communication, University of the Philippines-Diliman), Dr. Cheryll Soriano (Chair, Department of Communication, De La Salle University-Manila), and Ron Castro (Senior Marketing Consultant and Professor for Brand Activation and Sales & Channel Management, University of Asia and the Pacific). For the second phase, the entries were judged by Mark Brian Nicdao (Country External Relations for Downstream and Internal Communication Manager, Shell Philippines), Maria Alvarez (Regional Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Inclusive Asia Pacific, Thomson Reuters), Rachel Lichauco (Corporate Communications Professional of 30 years), and Ford Philippines Managing Director Bertran Lessard. Completing the judges for this year's awards are renowned masters in their respective fields like Jake Versoza (Professional Lifestyle Photographer), Michael Sicam (Executive Director, Ogilvy & Mather), and Quark Henares (Film and TV Director). "The Henry Ford Awards is our way of giving back and recognizing the hard work and effort that our automotive media give to boost the industry," said Lessard. "We are confident that the winners will serve as an inspiration to the next generation of automotive journalists with their passion and dedication to their craft."
