Changan Automobile unveils hybrid engine after 6-year development

After six years in development, Changan Automobile unveils its latest Blue Core iDD (intelligent Dual Drive) engine. The company made the big reveal at the Chongqing Auto Show which was held in the Yuelai National Expo Center last June 12.

The state-owned automobile manufacturer took its time in polishing and refining the hybrid engine which is said to overcome dozens of technical problems in the field of hybridization.

Following the “All Speeds, All Scenarios, All Temperature, and All Time” intelligent oil-electric dual-drive system, Changan Automobile believes that its new hybrid powertrain should meet its user’s needs.

According to the automaker, this can “ensure high-quality and consistent power output for low-speed start, high-speed overtake, and top-speed race.”

In addition, Changan Automobile says that the engine can perform well on both urban commutes or long trips. Fuel consumption clocks in at five liters per 100km with a 130km pure electric range. This gives the new Blue Core iDD hybrid engine a comprehensive range of 1,100km.

The Blue Core iDD hybrid engine also maintains safe and stable performance in both extremely low and extremely-high temperature levels, added the automobile company.

Moreover, the Chinese carmaker plans to deliver future upgrades to the hybrid engine via over-the-air updates.

News about when the engines will be made available and to what vehicles will they be fitted on is yet to be announced.

In the Philippines, Changan Automobile’s lineup includes the Alsvin, the Eado EV 460, the CS35 Plus, the CS75 Plus, and the CS95.

The company is under the leadership of Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, who also happens to be the woman behind Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor for the South Korean car brand in the country.
