Driving the 2015 Audi S3
Let’s face it. Not every day do we have the opportunity to drive the best cars in the world.
Imagine sitting inside a car, smelling its leather seats, turning the ignition key and pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor. As the car revs at a surprising speed, there’s this level of excitement that makes you think you want one of these cars. This was precisely my experience during my recent drive with Audi’s new pedigree machine—the Audi S3.
As I step inside, great attention to detail documents the Audi S3's dynamic character. Once you sit in the driver's seat, the front sport seats provide optimum hold and support. The seat cushions can be extended, and S3 logo is embossed into the backrests. The side bolsters come as standard covered in Pearl Nappa leather while the seat center sections are covered in cloth.
Standard features include a leather-covered sport steering wheel, an anti-theft alarm system, deluxe automatic air conditioning, xenon plus headlights and a huge storage and luggage compartment to complete the inside package. Topping the range of infotainment choices is the Multi-Media Interface Navigation system that provides you with access to music, radio, and connections from your mobile phone. The range of advanced driver assistance systems is also innovative. It’s like a riot fest inside this car!
In terms of power, the new Audi S3 is like no other. This small machine is equipped with a 6-speed S-tronic 2.0-liter engine (twin-clutch) that can produce an impressive heart pounding 300 horsepower and 380 Newton of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with top speed of 250 km/h.
As I floor the gas pedal, the drive select system allows you to choose between comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, and individual modes. This technology gives the driver the freedom to specify his own profile of preferred settings. Once you step on the dynamic mode, it responds even more directly to accelerator commands, with brief double-clutching underscoring the change of gears by the optional S-tronic. The sound flaps in the exhaust system open at higher load and rpm. In layman’s terms, it screams like a cat!
Steering is extremely precise during fast, sporty driving taking all types of corners at high speeds and with little body movement. Safety-wise, you can be sure that the Audi S3 brings all the best to the table with airbags, stability control, and an anti-lock brake system.
All in all, the new Audi S3 is not only for those hardcore ones who crave speed and glitz, but also for those who love to drive a car with fun and excitement.
