GAC GS4 gets major updates ahead of release in Chile

GAC Motors’ five-seater SUV, the GS4, has already seen its fair share of upgrades. Now the Chinese automaker is preparing the GS4 1.5AT GE variant of the company’s best-selling compact crossover for its upcoming release in Chile.

One of the updates to the GS4 GE variant is the improved engine. It now sports a 1.5-liter mill which replaces the weaker 1.3-liter powerplant. Moreover, the old five-speed manual transmission is now upgraded to a six-speed automatic gearbox. This powertrain setup gives the new GS4 1.5AT GE a higher maximum power capacity, smoother driving, and better control.

The engine updates make the GS4 1.5AT GE a capable weekend vehicle which adds some level of versatility to this daily driver and family carrier. With the improved engine, GAC Motors touts the GS4 1.5AT GE as a vehicle that can take people further, faster.

Inside, the GS4 1.5AT GE also gets considerable upgrades including extended legroom in the back row, eco-leather seats, and a third-row armrest.

The interior refresh now makes the GS4 1.5AT GE’s cabin look more sophisticated and offers new levels of comfort over its predecessor.

In addition, GAC Motors also equips the GS4 1.5AT GE with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new tech update will now allow GAC Motors’ customers to have easy access to various intelligent in-car systems for a more convenient driving experience.

The refreshed GS4 1.5AT GE now also has a rear camera which adds a layer of safety to the crossover SUV. Not only can it make parking easy but it also allows drivers to see any form of obstruction from behind.

Updates to pricing and availability to Chilean customers are yet to be revealed.

Locally, GAC Motors offers the GS4 in a single variant. Some of its features include the 1.5 200T gas turbo engine mated to a six-speed automatic tranny, GAC Motors’ chassis, a high-performance four-wheel disc braking system, an eight-inch navigation system, EPB with auto-hold function, and passive entry passive start with smart key system.

The Philippine-spec GS4 1.5 is priced at P1,306,000.
