Hyundai PH turns over modern PUV units to Sorsogon transport group

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) recently delivered a fleet of modernized public utility vehicles (PUV) to Bulusan Transport Service Cooperative (BULTRASCO) in Sorsogon.

Last April 18, the transport group officially received 15 Class 3 HD50S modern PUV during the event dubbed as “Sulong at Sama-Sama sa Isang Adhikain para sa Modernong Transportasyon na Napapanahon.”

In a statement, the Korean automaker’s local arm said that the newly released units will be utilized to serve the transportation needs of Bulusan, Barcelona, Gubat, and Sorsogon City.

Present during the event were Bulusan Mayor Michael Guysayko, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region V Director Police Major General Antonio Gardiola, Jr., Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) Executive Director Eugene Pabualan, BULTRASCO Chairman Santiago Galve II, together with representatives from HARI and Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang.

Guysayko expressed belief that the presence of modern PUV units will boost Sorsogon’s tourism by providing safe and reliable access to the province’s famed tourist attractions.

Gardiola lauded BULTRASCO’s effort in providing the province with comfortable and reliable public transportation. Aside from that, he also encouraged other local transport groups to join the movement and experience its benefits.

HARI shared that BULTRASCO is the fourth transport cooperative beneficiary of the PUV Modernization program in the entire Bicol Region.

“Our Hyundai Modern PUV is a testament to our continuing mission of developing the transport sector through quality people movers that in turn upgrade the quality of lives of drivers and commuters alike,” HARI President and Chief Executive Officer Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said.

“Further, the Hyundai Modern PUV is a symbol of Filipino ingenuity, built with the diligence, skills, reliability, and determination of Filipinos working for the advancement of Filipinos. With the nation’s transport sector and workforce joining hands to make commuting better and safer for the riding public, we can all contribute towards making opportunities for progress more attainable for the Filipino,” she added.

In 2021, the company turned over around 500 modern PUV units to various local transport cooperatives across the country. For the current year, HARI is eyeing to touch base with more key cities and provinces.
