Aside from “Elden Ring,” “Gran Turismo 7” is arguably one of this year’s most-hyped games. And as someone who has followed and witnessed its evolution, from the first to the fifth PlayStation console (and its handheld spinoffs), I’d say it deserves all the fanfare.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What Jaguar car will appear in “Gran Turismo 7”?

It will be the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster.
  • What other Vision cars will be available in the game?

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster will be accompanied by the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé and the Vision Gran Turismo SV.
  • Heck, they even got Sung Kang — the man who played Han Lue in the “Fast & Furious” franchise — to talk about his Fugu Z, which happens to be an available car in the game. You can check it out here.

The “Gran Turismo” series has revolutionized racing simulation and is even dubbed as “The Real Driving Simulator,” thanks to the game’s accurate driving physics emulation. Of course, it also boasted a large library of vehicles — most of which are licensed reproductions of real-world cars. It also featured virtual gaming sports cars, like the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roaster.

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is the third — and the latest — all-electric virtual gaming sports car from the Coventry-based automaker. It completes Jaguar’s trifecta of virtual vehicles including the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé and the extreme Vision Gran Turismo SV endurance racer. All of the said virtual vehicles will be made available to “Gran Turismo 7” players.

“As a car designer, being part of the team that has delivered three virtual cars for the ‘Gran Turismo’ series has been a dream project. Since the reveal of the Vision GT Coupé in 2019 and Vision GT SV in 2020, we wanted to curate the perfect way to present the full line-up of the three cars together when we revealed the Roadster — ‘Gran Turismo 7’ is the perfect way to do it,” said Jaguar Advanced Design Exterior Designer Oliver Cattel-Ford.

Outside, the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is easily recognizable.

At the fore is a swept-back aerodynamic screen directly in front of the driver and features flowing surfaces, dramatic lines, and perfect proportions similarly found on the first two Vision vehicles. At the rear is a modern interpretation of the fin akin to the three-time Le Mans-winning D-type, aerodynamically-optimized using the latest computational fluid dynamics tools to be deployable at speed for enhanced stability with minimal drag.

According to Jaguar, the Roadster was designed “to bring gamers the pure, visceral driving experience of an open-cockpit Jaguar sports car.” Its dramatic, driver-focused interior can be enjoyed by players who are in for a fully immersive driving experience.

Jaguar shares that spec-wise, the all-electric virtual endurance race car produces 1,876 horses (1,400kW) and speeds from zero to 60 in as fast as 1.65 seconds with a top speed of 255mph.

“We are delighted to announce the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster, which completes the trilogy of Jaguar Vision vehicles for Gran Turismo 7. It was a great experience to work with the Design team at Jaguar. We look forward to drivers getting behind the virtual wheel in the new game. All three cars lend themselves perfectly to the exciting new user experience that GT7 will offer,” said Polyphony Digital Inc. President and Gran Turismo Creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
