Kia reveals new Soul in US
Kia has introduced the 2022 Soul crossover to the US market.
According to the announcement, the model arrives as a carryover with minor visual enhancements. Among the most obvious adjustment is the new Kia badge on the hood, liftgate and wheel center caps.
Kia dropped the LX manual transmission variant in the current offering, pairing the two two powertrain options (2.0-liter I4 that can deliver 147hp and almost 179Nm and the 1.6-liter turbocharged I4 that has a peak performance of 201hp and 264Nm) only to an automatic transmission.
Aside from that, the 10.25-inch display screen with navigation, dual automatic climate control, push-button start with engine immobilizer, wireless smartphone charger and dual USB chargers now come as standard for the S, X-Line and GT-Line of the latest offering.
The 2022 Kia Soul is available in the following variants:
- 2.0L
- S 2.0L
- X-Line 2.0L
- GT-Line 2.0L
- EX 2.0L
- Turbo 1.6T
US customers who will get the LX may enjoy the Convenience Package that includes 16-inch alloy wheels as well as the several advanced driver-assistance system features such as Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Change Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Warning.
Further, the LX standard screen on the head unit is now eight inches — up by an inch from last year’s model).
Its pricing in the United States starts at US$19,190 (about ₱936,417) for base trim, and goes up to $27,790 (about ₱1.356 million) for the top-tiered turbocharged variant.
In the Philippines, the Kia Soul was launched back in 2009 when the Korean automaker was still Columbian Autocar Corporation. Currently, Kia is now under the backing of KP Motors under the Ayala Group.
