Mazda Tops US EPA Report for 5th Straight Year
Mazda Motor Corporation recently announced that it received first-place ranking in the Manufacturer Adjusted Fuel Economy category for the 2017 model year. The category, which is part of the Light-Duty Automotive Technology, Carbon Dioxide Emissions, and Fuel Economy Trends report, was released by the United States' Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on January 12, 2018. The Japanese car maker managed to score highest overall for the fifth year in a row.
The EPA report states that Mazda had the highest adjusted fuel economy performance among 13 car brands that took part of the review. After the EPA summarized fuel economy trends for the 2017 model year, Mazda scored an overall average fuel economy of 29.6 miles to the gallon (12.58 kilometers per liter), which was a 0.4mpg (0.17 km/l) improvement over the previous year.
Mazda credited its continued top-tier performance to its very own SKYACTIV Technology, an innovative new-gen technology consisting of improved Mazda powertrains, aerodynamic styling, and lighter structural components that work in harmony to provide better fuel economy and vehicle safety, among other benefits. Mazda keeps improving its technology with every iteration, and this has made the biggest difference to the performance of its models. Posting the highest overall average fuel economy for five years straight is testament to that.
"Mazda has always stood for maximizing performance through efficiency," says Steven Tan, president and CEO of Bermaz Auto Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles and parts in the country. "This is the fifth year that Mazda has topped the report’s results. The feat is a testament to the passion Mazda engineers put into the development of its products. With the current range of SKYACTIV Technology-equipped models, Filipino customers can be sure that their Mazda vehicles have the latest engine, transmission, chassis, and suspension innovations which will provide them the best value and performance for their money."
Looking ahead, Mazda hopes to build a future where humans can coexist with technology, with the latter enriching people’s lives through a car ownership experience that celebrates a strong emotional connection between the Mazda brand and its customers.
