Refreshed Africa Twin headlines Honda’s 2022 product announcement in the US
American Honda has announced its first product for 2022 and reveals the return of several popular motorcycle models. Headlining this product group is the refined Africa Twin to be offered in four variants: the Africa Twin Adventure Sports SE DCT, Africa Twin Adventure Sports SE, Africa Twin DCT, and the base Africa Twin model.

American Honda announced two CBR1000RRs and five Rebel models.All four models are fitted with a 1,084cc liquid-cooled Unicam four-stroke 22.5-degree parallel-twin engine. Depending on the variant, it can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a multi-plate wet clutch (Africa Twin and Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES) or a six-speed automatic DCT with two multi-plate wet clutches.
Stopping power will come from two four-piston hydraulic calipers with 310mm discs (with ABS) at the front and a single one-piston hydraulic caliper with a 256mm disc at the rear (with ABS).
Suspension-wise, the base Africa Twin model and the Africa Twin DCT get a 45mm inverted Showa telescopic fork at the front and a Pro-Link system with a single Showa shock at the rear. Meanwhile, the Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES and the range-topping Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT variant get a 45mm inverted Showa telescopic fork with EERA and a Pro-Link system with a single Showa shock with EERA at the rear.
In addition, the 2022 Africa Twin models feature a bright — and customizable — 6.5-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD touch panel. The meter is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allowing riders to issue voice-control commands via a headset microphone in order to use the phone or some apps.
The Africa Twin is priced from US$14,399 to US$17,999 and comes in either Pearl White or Grand Prix Red color schemes.
Honda’s motorcycle arm in the US is also releasing updated versions of the CBR1000RR. The 2022 year model of the famed superbike will be offered in two variants: one with a conventional braking setup and the other with ABS. Both bikes will be powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled, 27.6-degree in-line-four-cylinder four-stroke engine mated to a six-speed transmission with a multi-plate wet clutch.
They are priced at US$16,499 and US$16,799 respectively and only come in Honda’s iconic Grand Prix Red color scheme.
Two Rebel models — the 300 and 500 — return for 2022. The Rebel 300 is offered in two variants (Rebel 300 and Rebel 300 ABS) while the Rebel 500 is offered in three variants (Rebel 500, Rebel 500 ABS, and Rebel 500 ABS SE).
Both models of the Rebel 300 are equipped with a 286cc liquid-cooled 20-degree single-cylinder four-stroke engine while the larger Rebel 500 packs a 471cc liquid-cooled 20-degree parallel-twin four-stroke engine. All Rebel models, however, are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission with a multi-plate wet clutch.
The Rebel 300 is priced at US$4,599 while its ABS variant is priced at US$4,899. On the other hand, the Rebel 500 is given a sticker price of US$6,299, its ABS variant is priced at US$6,599, and the ABS SE model is priced at US$6,799.
