Here are 5 of the Most Iconic Film Cars

back to the future
One thing that marks a truly iconic movie is when people see an obscure thing and it makes them immediately think of that film. Just like how seeing a three-tiered lightning bolt will remind people of Harry Potter, or how hearing the word “stark” just makes you think of Tony, a movie will be memorable because of various visual icons that will remind people of the product. Cars are the same thing. Be it an iconic chase scene, drag race, or even just a movie centered around cars, the most iconic movie cars are usually fast, always cool, and just really, really remarkable. We know there are a lot, so, we've chosen five among the numerous moves that fit in the lot.

Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger

The classic of classics, this Aston Martin was the first ever Bond car. Arguably the most famous movie car ever, the DB5 was featured in the movie Goldfinger (1964), and the move that came after it, Thunderball (1965). The ’63 Aston Martin not only captured audiences with its sleek looks, but also with the wide array of spy gadgets that came with it, including ejector seats and machine guns. DeLorean from Back to the Future dmc delorean   Ah, the DeLorean. It doesn’t get more 80s than the 1981 DeLorean DMC-12, more commonly known as the time machine in Back to the Future trilogy. In truth, the DeLorean was a commercial flop, with low sales numbers and an engine that couldn’t quite reach 142 kilometers per hour. But the cool, retrofuturistic design of the vehicle made it the perfect accompaniment to everyone’s favorite time travelling duo, Doc Brown and Marty. 1970 Dodge Charger from The Fast and the Furious dodge charger   The first ever FF movie contained a lot of cool cars (A roofless Supra? Come on.), but none were quite as memorable as the ’69 Dodge Charger that even Paul Walker with a nitro boost couldn’t keep up with. That is, of course, until it flipped over a couple times. That iconic quarter mile race was still cool as hell, though.   Volkswagen Beetle from Herbie: Fully Loaded herbie fully loaded   Okay, this might be the least badass car in this list, but it’s still just as awesome as the others. One of the most iconic cars of the '60s got its own standalone movie in Herbie: Fully Loaded. The Volkswagen Beetle, just by itself, is an icon. The wacky styling and size of the vehicle makes it so quirky and lovable. But if you give it the ability to process information and emotions, and you put it in a movie with Lindsay Lohan behind the wheel? Sounds like the perfect recipe for a movie that would span 5 installments and make millions of dollars.   Chevrolet Camaro from Transformers series chevy camaro   Probably the one that most people are familiar with, the iconic yellow Camaro with black stripes has always been Bumblebee. Although originally appearing as a bright yellow VW Beetle, the live action Transformers films have always depicted ‘Bee as a yellow American muscle car. In the 2007 Transformers film, he starts as an older model of the Camaro, eventually upgrading to the latest rendition of the car by the end of the movie. (Editor's Note: The movie rendition was quite far from the cartoons as Bumblebee was also a Volkswagen Beetle and NOT a Camaro).
