The local wing of the Japanese motorcycle brand hosted a selection and qualifying event at the Carmona Race Track on June 15. YClub group members who were selected then went to Cebu to further hone their skills and compete in the Mio Aerox 155 and Sniper 155 categories.

Participants carried their race standings to the final round, which was held in Tarlac Circuit Hill earlier this month. There, the hopeful racers competed for more than just bragging rights as the winning team and the best rider will get to experience the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia to witness MotoGP riders duke it out in the flesh.

Below are the Yamaha bLU cRU Camp winners:

    • Mio Aerox bLU cRU YClub race: Peter Paul Muñoz
    • Overall team winner: ACP Team Neo Racing
    • Sniper 155 bLU cRU YClub race: Laurence Kevin Cacal
    • Overall team winner: Sniper 155 Team Pampanga

“Yamaha Motor Philippines will continue its development of racing in the country and more riders will have the opportunity to become better racers. One day, even becoming the next Filipino racing icon,” the company wrote in a press release.

    Knowledge from pros

Participants of the Yamaha bLU cRU Camp benefited from learning first-hand from professionals.

Coach Joey Storm facilitated a special racing clinic — and shared his experience of the racetracks — for the riders. In addition, Yamaha Philippines Racing Team Riders McKinley Kyle Paz and Gian Carlo Mauricio also imparted their skills — which made them shine in international competitions — to the riders.
