Yamaha PH eyes to regain UB150 ARRC title amid opening-round snag

Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) is looking at regaining the underbone 150 (UB150) title in the latest season of FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Who are the UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines riders for this year's FIM Asia Road Racing Championship?

The riders for the team are April King Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio.
  • How did the two racers finish in the opening round of the competition?

Mascardo finished seventh and eighth places for Races 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Mauricio was at 19th on the first and was unable to finish on the second race.
  • Per the Japanese motorcycle distributor in the Philippines, the UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines has continued its quest at the racing series with April King Mascardo (who finished third overall last season) and Gian Carlo Mauricio on board their respective race machines.

To recall, McKinley Kyle Paz was the first Filipino racer who won under the ARRC UB150 Category.

Per YMPH, the competition is tougher than the previous one as veterans under the UB150 category returned to the grid. Also, the grid now has a total of 24 racers vying for the top spot unlike before that it only has 16.

    ARRC round 1

At the opening round, Mascardo finished seventh place in Race 1 and placed eighth in Race 2 after being injured following his crash during the free practice session. Mauricio, on the other hand, had an unfortunate start to his campaign and finished at 19th and a nasty spill at the final corner of the last race landed him with a DNF (did not finish).

Despite that, the duo is looking forward for a better outcome in Round 2 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia that is held today up to May 14. “They have a long way to go and are eager to show the rest of Asia what they are truly capable of,” YMPH shared.
