Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) shall have morale-boosting halftime presentations in the FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Basketball) World Cup Asian qualifiers as part of its support to the Gilas Pilipinas Men’s Basketball Team in its quest to secure the last remaining window in the competition.

The two games will be on February 24 and 27.In a statement, the company said that artists Bamboo Mañalac and Janine Berdin are set to stir up the expected full-house Philippine Arena crowd during the highly-anticipated games’ halftime shows. The said venue has a capacity of 55,000 individuals.
Mañalac will be performing at the Gilas Pilipinas bout against Lebanon tomorrow (February 24) while Berdin will be at the venue when the Filipino cagers battle it out with the representatives from Jordan on Monday (February 27).
According to YMPH, its role as the official lifestyle motorcycle of the Philippines’ national team is beyond a simple sponsorship. “With the fiery Filipino passion lifting basketball as the nation’s undisputed number one sport, Yamaha considers it a duty and a pleasure to support Gilas Pilipinas,” the company explained.
To note, the partnership between the motorcycle firm and the basketball team was announced last month. Sealing the agreement at the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) office were YMPH President Hiroshi Koike, Sales and Marketing Division Head Shinsuke Iida, and Marketing Assistant Section Manager Toni Acuesta as well as SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios, Deputy Event Director FIBA World Cup Philippines LOC Erika Dy, and Gilas Pilipinas Team Manager Butch Antonio.
