Foton Harabas EV Review

Foton Harabas EV Overview
Foton Philippines has intensified its commitment to provide local consumers with a sustainable and greener means of transportation through its “EV Forward” model lineup. One of these models is the Foton Harabas EV, a fully-electric 2-seater light commercial vehicle that offers emission-free cargo hauling and everyday practicality to cater to your and your business’ needs. It is available in a single variant - TM300 EV, which is priced at ₱1.848 million.
-
Foton Harabas EV Interior
Similar to its exterior, the Foton Harabas EV’s cabin layout is also pretty simple and straightforward. It is just enough to ensure that the driver performs at his or her best and, at the same time, all passengers are relaxed and entertained. Exclusive to the driver is a leather-wrapped power steering wheel with an adjustable steering column, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and a premium-looking shifter knob, which can give you a satisfying shifting experience.
Its infotainment system, however, is already dated. It is a 2DIN audio unit that offers AM/FM radio, MP3, and USB. Its infotainment system is connected to a standard speaker setup. You also got a decent amount of compartments around the cabin. Its interior finishes are also easy-to-clean. That said, Foton’s emphasis on functionality is still very well evident inside the Foton Harabas EV. -
Foton Harabas EV Exterior
The Foton Harabas TM300 EV’s outside appearance is simple and straightforward. Its facade looks like your typical Foton commercial vehicle but with a blue casing around its emblem, indicating its electrified character. At the front, it sports halogen headlamps, DRLs, and fog lights. Meanwhile, at the rear, it has bulb-type taillights. Like its cousins, the Harabas EV also offers a generous amount of payload capacity, 1,340 kg to be exact.
This full-electric light commercial vehicle is 4,670 mm in length, 1,590 mm in width, and 1,860 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. It runs on a set of 16-inch radial wheels that are designed to withstand your business’ daily cargo hauling in the city.
-
Foton Harabas EV Ride & Handling
The Foton Harabas EV utilizes a suspension combination of a MacPherson Strut at the front and a Leaf Spring at the rear. This EV has decent handling and maneuvering as well as absorption of bumps and other road imperfections courtesy of its suspension setup. Additionally, it runs smoothly and is very easy to drive for light commercial vehicle standards.
-
Foton Harabas EV Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Foton Harabas EV is powered by a full-electric powertrain that combines a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, which produces a maximum power output of 102 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Nm, and 38.64 kWh battery pack. Its battery has a maximum driving range of 220 kms, a direct current (DC) fast charging time of up to 100% in just an hour, and an alternating current (AC) charging time of 6 hours.
It might not be the fastest or the torquiest in its class, but it delivers enough power to ensure that you arrive at your destination on time. Since it has a decent driving range, it is a practical and sustainable daily vehicle in the city. Although, taking out-of-town trips should be planned ahead of time.
-
Foton Harabas EV Braking & Safety
One of the weaknesses of the Foton Harabas EV is its noticeable lack of advanced safety features that most modern EVs already have. Some of its few safety features include a reversing buzzer, an anti-lock braking system, and electronic brakeforce distribution for its brake setup. Like other Foton models, it utilizes disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
-
Foton Harabas EV Verdict
Honestly, for its price, Foton Philippines can still improve on the Harabas EV in terms of safety features and technology. But, if you prioritize functionality, practicality, and sustainability, then the Harabas EV still delivers effectively in these categories.
