Honda Prelude

Inside, the Honda Prelude’s cabin features classy leather upholstery with two-tone (blue and white) stitching and embroidered Prelude logos. Its seats offer an impressive balance of comfort and performance, making every spirited drive or long-distance cruise more comfortable. The front row is a nice place to be in, while the rear is more suited for kids or smaller passengers in general. On the plus side, this sports coupe offers 760 liters of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded.

For entertainment and information accessibility, this sports coupe comes with a 9-inch HD color touchscreen display that offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth audio streaming and handsfree, Google Maps navigation, and supports the Honda Connect app. This display is linked to an 8-speaker BOSE Premium Sound System, delivering an immersive sound experience around the cabin.

Up front, the driver gets a performance-oriented cockpit that consists of a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 3-spoke smooth leather-wrapped steering wheel with multiple controls and paddle shifters, and a push-button gear selector. In terms of convenience, the Prelude comes with a wireless charger, USB Type-C charging ports, a glove box, as well as multiple bottle and cup holders.

From the outside, the Prelude flaunts a futuristic, aerodynamic look, which beautifully encapsulates Honda’s “Unlimited Glide” design concept. It features a smart-looking fascia flanked by angular full-LED headlights with winged LED DRLs, which emit a unique, assertive glare at night. Its headlights are connected by a black panel with a sleek chrome trim, adding a hint of European styling to its overall appearance on the road. Underneath, a sharp high gloss black bumper with blue accent further enhances its sporty character.  

On the sides, its coupe silhouette looks very clean and modern, accentuated by auto pop-up flush door handles with illumination and 19-inch Berlina Black aluminum wheels. Signal lights are already integrated into its power-folding door mirrors, and it comes with active cornering lights for enhanced visibility at all times.

While the front end may be somewhat controversial to some, the rear is arguably the highlight of the Prelude’s design. Its sexy-looking rear is enhanced by a sleek LED light bar that spans across the entire width of the car. It also comes with a high-mount stop lamp. Aside from that, the sixth-gen Prelude also features H-O-N-D-A lettering on its tailgate, a styling cue that departs from the traditional “H” emblem commonly used in other models. And, to complete its rear design, it flaunts the Prelude nameplate in a classy cursive format, paying tribute to its heritage. Like its front end, it also comes with a high gloss black bumper with blue accent at the rear. 

In terms of dimensions, the Honda Prelude measures 4,522 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,355 mm in height. This sports coupe comes with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm and a ground clearance of 137 mm.

The Honda Prelude is equipped with Dual Axis MacPherson Struts at the front and a Multi-Link suspension at the rear. This setup contributes to this sports coupe’s confident and precise handling on sharp turns or challenging twisty roads. In the city, it is quite agile to maneuver even through crowded areas. On top of this, it delivers a supple riding experience both in the city and on the highway, allowing you to cover miles comfortably.

Powering the Prelude is Honda’s e:HEV system that combines a 2L Atkinson Cycle engine with two electric motors, producing 184 PS (135 kW) of maximum total traction motor output and 315 Nm of maximum torque output. This sports coupe comes mated to an electronically continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) system. The Philippine-spec offers four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Comfort, and Individual. It also comes with Honda’s S+ Shift technology, which enhances the driver’s overall tactile experience on the road.

The Prelude delivers a nice pull off the line. It accelerates quickly and effortlessly, thanks to its e:HEV system’s linear power delivery. Its E-CVT is also very smooth and responsive both on the highway and in the city. And, similar to the Civic RS, it also delivers great efficiency even in mixed conditions, proving that it is indeed usable on a daily basis.

The Prelude comes with a Honda Sensing technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, low speed follow, collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assist system, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, auto high beam, and lead car departure notification. 

This sports coupe is equipped with ventilated disc brakes with double-branded (Brembo X Prelude) blue brake calipers at the front and standard disc brakes at the rear. Its braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, and hill descent control, among others.

The Prelude showcases Honda’s proven standard of versatility on the road, offering a mix of sporty performance, long-distance touring comfort, and everyday city usability. It undoubtedly represents the new age of Honda’s reliable engineering.
