Hongqi HS3

Upon entering the Hongqi HS3, you are greeted by a premium, very modern-looking cabin that offers a blend of state-of-the-art tech features and plush materials. Its cabin provides five occupants with generous headroom and legroom, ensuring that everyone on board is comfortable. Additionally, its well-cushioned faux leather seats provide great support, even on longer drives. And, at the back, its trunk can effectively accommodate a family of five’s weekend groceries and light luggage. 

Up front, the driver has access to a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, a PVC-wrapped multi-control steering wheel finished in a sporty shape, an electronic control shift lever, and an around-view monitor. For entertainment and information accessibility, this SUV also comes with a 12.6-inch LCD display connected to an 8-speaker sound system, which delivers excellent sound acoustics around the cabin.

In terms of convenience, this SUV is also equipped with a wireless phone charger and multiple USB-A and USB-C sockets. You can also achieve an ‘IG-worthy’ lighting inside its cabin, thanks to a panoramic glass sunroof. That said, the Hongqi HS3’s cabin offers both aesthetics and modern technology without sacrificing comfort and practicality.

The Hongqi HS3’s design looks robust and sophisticated at the same time. Up front, it sports LED headlights (equipped with intelligent high-beam control) with curved LED daytime running lights (DRLs), giving it a unique scythe-like glare at night. It flaunts Hongqi’s red logo, which extends into its imposing black grille with vertical slats.

Furthermore, its two-tone silhouette is accentuated by black mirrors with integrated turn signals and roof, creating a modern floating roof effect. This SUV is also fitted with elegant-looking 18-inch wheels. Aside from that, Honqi logo side garnishes and some chrome accents give its side profile more detail. 

At night, the HS3 makes a striking impression with its hypermodern-looking T-shaped LED tail lights, which are linked by a full-width light bar. It also gets a high-mount third brake light, ensuring increased visibility at all times. And, underneath, its muscular rear bumper with a silver accent completes its overall look on the road.

In terms of dimensions, the Hongqi HS3 measures 4,655 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height. This luxury SUV also comes with a 2,770-mm wheelbase and a 150-mm ground clearance.

The Hongqi HS3 comes with a MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. This setup offers an impressive balance of softness and firmness on the road. It handles quite well for an SUV, turning and hitting corners with a  respectable amount of confidence. Meanwhile, in the city, it does a great job of smoothing out bumpy, uneven roads, resulting in a supple riding experience for everyone on board.

Powering the Hongqi HS3 is a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine that produces a maximum power output of 124 kW (169 PS) and a maximum torque output of 258 Nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission system and utilizes a front-wheel drivetrain.

That said, this SUV’s performance is adequate for daily city driving while remaining capable on the highway. Its DCT, however, may feel less responsive and refined than those of its competitors. On the bright side, its cabin remains impressively quiet even at high speeds, thanks to its excellent NVH suppression system. It also returns commendable fuel economy for its class. And, lastly, it is equipped with three selectable driving modes: Eco, Comfort, and Sport.

In terms of safety, the Hongqi HS3 is equipped with a wide range of advanced driver assistance systems, including blind spot detection, lane keeping and changing assist, forward and rear collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, multiple airbags, and a rear parking sensor, among others.

This SUV utilizes ventilated discs for front braking and regular discs for the rear. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, an electronic stability program, an electronic parking brake system, an electronic brake assist, as well as a traction control system.
