Jeep Wrangler Latest Updates
The all-new Jeep Wrangler is the most recent addition under the company’s iconic lineup in the Philippines market. The freshly designed car retains its body-on-frame construction and front & rear live axle suspension from its predecessors. However, the most worthy upgrade is that the new Wrangler is over 90 kg lighter than the model it replaces.
There are a total of two gasoline engines under offering by the automaker. Firstly, a new 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces a maximum power output of 268 hp besides generating a peak torque of up to 400 Nm. The second engine on offer is a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 which makes 286 hp of power and 353 Nm of torque.

Jeep Wrangler Review
Jeep Wrangler Overview
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the enduring nameplates for a four-wheel-drive, off-road SUV that had stood the test of time. Currently, in its fourth generation, the Jeep has come a long way when it comes to design, capabilities, and performance. Yet, it still managed to retain the angular look that it has come to be known for. At present, the Jeep Wrangler is offered locally in two variants— the Wrangler Sport and the Wrangler Rubicon in two-door and four-door options. The price of the Jeep Wrangler starts at Php 3.39 million.
Jeep Wrangler Interior
Inside the Wrangler is a spacious cabin that oozes with ruggedness. The old-school looking dashboard may be a turn off to some especially with the bulky round knobs and switches. Although true-blooded Wrangler fans would argue that it is part of the car’s charm and rugged off-road styling. Besides that, the interior detailing is on point with automatic AC, USB and 12V slots for connectivity, multi-function steering wheel, and cubbies scattered on all corners of the vehicle to keep things tidy and organized.
Jeep Wrangler Exterior
The Jeep Wrangler is best known for its iconic design. Just one look and you’ll know it’s a jeep. Based on the Willy or military jeep, the Wrangler has seen very little change to its iconic angular design that has become synonymous with the car brand. Despite staying true to its heritage of giant round headlamps, seven-slot front grille, flat fender flares, soft or hardtop, fold-down windshield, and removable top and doors, the Wrangler has improved in several manners. For one, the turn signal is now embedded on the front fender flare while the round fog lights are attached to the lower end bumper. Black trims provide contrast to the body color.
Jeep Wrangler Ride & Handling
The Jeep Wrangler is the ideal SUV to take on extreme off-road adventures. The off-road ability of this Jeep is seen on its 4x4 systems that offer maximum traction and ground-pounding grip. Coupled with good suspension and axle articulation, this Jeep makes for an exceptionally fun driving experience. And you don’t even have to worry about crossing brooks and streams as the air intake is designed to be on top of the engine compartment and all electrical connections are sealed against moisture so you can waddle without any worry. The only room for improvement is the seats which are a bit stiff. More padding on the upholstery might improve the riding comfort, especially when passengers are bouncing around on rough terrains.
Jeep Wrangler Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Jeep Wrangler is equipped with either a 3.6L Pentastar V6 direct-injection turbo engine or 2.0L inline 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo diesel engine both paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, which is available only on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, can deliver 285 hp of power and 352 Nm of torque. In terms of mileage, it clocks in 17 mpg for city driving or 7.23 kmpl and 23 mpg or 9.78 kmpl with a combined driving range of 20 mpg or 8.5 kmpl. Needless to say, the Wrangler is not the most efficient SUV out there if the fuel economy is on top of your must-have in a vehicle. For the 2.0 L engine, the power output is at 270 hp and peak torque at 400 Nm which makes it less powerful but torquier than the 3.6L Pentastar. The 2.0 L engine is available for both the Sport and Rubicon.
Jeep Wrangler Braking & Safety
The Wrangler is built with reinforced, high strength steel beams for vehicle stiffness and added protection from side impact. But when it comes to safety features, the Jeep Wrangler is lacking luster as compared to conventional SUVs. It does have front and side airbag system, both blind-spot monitoring (BSM), rear cross-path detection (RCPD), pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, and rear park assist system but does not have other features like pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, dynamic brake support, cruise control, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection that are available on other SUVs on the market.
Jeep Wrangler Verdict
The Jeep Wrangler is incomparable with most of the SUVs in the market in the sense that it has a very specific target market in mind. It has a base appeal for people who loves the outdoors and has a passion for an extreme off-roading adventure. If you are looking for a city car, the Wrangler will not be your best bet. But if you want an SUV that can take you on roads less traveled, then the Wrangler will be a fun driving experience.
