Land Rover Discovery Sport

On the inside too, this new Land Rover Discovery Sport doesn’t sport drastic improvements over the model it has replaced. However, the changes brought in the form of new additional features and the enhanced versions of the already existing ones has brightened up the cabin – a much-deserved change, we must say.

Take for instance, the rectangular touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the slanted center console, which now looks bigger and has better resolution with the integration of more connectivity options than before. And that’s not all, the Land Rover Discovery Sport also gets a revised full TFT instrument console, an all-new four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, and piano black finish around the dials for automatic climate control dials in the center console.

Like before, the Land Rover Discovery Sport continues to have a 2+3+2 seating layout for the consecutive three rows, with the last row still being better only for kids or young teenagers at the best.

While Land Rover has not done vast changes to this Discovery Sport, however, the minor nip and tuck job which this revised midsize SUV has made it look much more appealing to look at then ever before.

At the front, the Land Rover Discovery Sport continues to boast the same trapezoidal upper grille, which gets honeycomb inserts within it. The headlamps flanking the grille have the same outline as ever before, with a kinked design while flowing outwards, though they look vastly different now, thanks to their all LED lighting pattern and revised daytime running LEDs. The front bumper too is all-new with vertical air vents and re-profiled fog lamps on the corners and a bigger central air dam.

There are very few changes executed on the side profile of the Land Rover Discovery Sport as compared to the previous iteration of the current one. The angular and broad C-pillar design with wraparound quarter glass blending with the windscreen, along with crisp crease flowing sideways and blacked-out A and B pillars, continue to be there this time as well. However, as expected, the Land Rover Discovery Sport now wears a different set of alloy wheels.

At the back, the changes in the Land Rover Discovery Sport are as prominent as they are at the front, with re-profiled tail lamps that look much better with revised LED inserts. The stubby designs for the rear windshield and boot lid give the Land Rover Discovery Sport a great looking hunkered stance to it.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport continues to have the traditional Land Rover pedigree of rugged yet premium mechanical underpinnings as in all the models from Land Rover from past and present. The SUV features adaptive driving dynamics and terrain response management which can be controlled via the infotainment screen, making this go-anywhere SUV a great vehicle for both on and off the road.

Land Rover has plonked in its tried and tested 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine under the hood of the Discovery Sport, which happens to be the smallest diesel engine from the car maker and the only one assigned for this model. Coupled to a slick 8-speed automatic gearbox, this engine makes a maximum power output of 150 PS and a peak torque output of 380 Nm.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport has some really nice safety features, the most prominent ones of which include dynamic stability control, low traction launch, hill descent control, gradient release control, advance tow assist, wade sensing, and all-terrain progress control, apart from the usual suite of safety features.

With all the minor changes and additions introduced in this facelifted version, the Land Rover Discovery Sport now feels very much modern and ready to take on the escalating competition from other midsize luxury SUVs.
