Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has always been renowned for being a luxurious chariot on wheels, and this sixth-generation model takes the bars even higher despite being one generation old. As expected, the S-Class is being offered with multiple choices of upholstery and trim levels to choose from, with the use of top-class leather, brushed aluminium and wood inserts used in just the right amount.

The S-Class was one of the first-ever cars to get the wide layout for the twin 10.25 screens stacked adjacent to each other in the middle layer of the dashboard as one unit. The two screens, each for instrument console and infotainment system, offer super crisp and clear colored displays. Just below this whole panel of screens, the center console of the dashboard gets four round AC vents and a smooth curved layer flowing below it, which integrates the tactile buttons for the climate control.

Despite being the seventh generation of the S-Class already introduced worldwide, this sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class still has got the charm and charisma to be the ultimate word in desirability. The long profile of the car, coupled with smoothly executed curves and lines, gives the Mercedes Benz S-Class an authoritative stance like no other. 

The front face of the Mercedes Benz S-Class has got the very familiar three slat chrome grille, which gets chrome for its surrounds as well. The hood-mounted three-pointed star ornament is one of the traditional highlights of the S-Class ever since its launch.

The large curved LED headlamps, with triple-curve daytime running LEDs flowing in its inner edges, as well as large air dams placed on the corners of the front bumper, with dual chrome slats in them, complete the wide look of the S-Class from the front.

The side profile, with its long wheelbase and door panels, the sleek curve flowing from the front fender to the rear door, low slung body with 147mm ground clearance and big rounded wheel arches over those large 20-inch rims with multi-spoke alloy pattern gives a powerful stance to the Mercedes Benz S-Class. 

At the back too, the Mercedes Benz S-Class looks extremely classy, with long and curved tail lamps placed on the far corners with tri-LED inserts in them, as well as the stubby boot design with wide license plate housing shaped like the front grille.

With multiple modes for the air controlled AIRMATIC suspension as well as Magic Body Control with curve tilting function and road surface scan feature, the Mercedes Benz S-Class manages to keep the inner occupants in utmost comfort, while maintaining high levels of stability across all the surfaces and stretches as well as corners.

The Mercedes Benz S-Class in the Philippines can be had with one of the two engine options, both of which are available in separate variants. The S 350 LWB gets a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine, which pumps out 260 PS of power and 620 Nm of torque, whereas the S 500 LWB has been blessed with a 4.7-litre turbocharged V8 petrol motor, which makes 460 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired to the same 7-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Given that it is the flagship saloon, the Mercedes Benz S-Class eventually comes brimmed with all the high-class safety features, which includes front, side, curtain and knee airbags, dynamic radar cruise control, front pre-collision system, ABS with EBD and brake assist, automatic high beam, lane departure alert, hill start assist, a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle dynamic integrated management, vehicle stability control,  tire pressure monitoring system, traction control, limited-slip differential and front and rear parking sensors with reverse camera.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, despite being the one generation old model here, maintains its hegemony among luxury sedans with full marks, with the impeccable and no-compromise styling and comfort levels kept in mind.
