Honda CB1000 Hornet

The Honda CB1000 Hornet showcases a very confident naked-bike design, impressing both big-bike enthusiasts and casual onlookers whenever it passes by. It is immensely sharp yet classy at the same time.

At the front, it has a strong glare courtesy of its sharp-looking LED headlights. Riders can accurately monitor their trips through a 5-inch TFT meter with a customizable layout. This displays the speedometer, tachometer, upshift indicator, gear position, and clock. Its split-type saddle is very well-padded and supportive even on longer trips out of town.

Aside from these, it has a sporty two-toned side profile accentuated by blacked-out parts and muscular fairings. It comes with a metal pedal, foot pegs, and a foot rest to enhance the pillion’s backriding experience while on the go. Meanwhile, at the back, its high-performance character is evident in its sporty-looking LED taillight and winged fender. 

The Honda CB1000 Hornet measures 2,142 mm in length, 792 mm in width, and 1,087 mm in height. It has a 1,456 mm wheelbase and a 134 mm ground clearance. It runs on a robust pair of 17-inch wheels. Overall, this street fighter’s diamond steel frame is designed to effectively withstand the dirt road and beaten path.

In terms of suspension, the Honda CB1000 Hornet utilizes Showa 41 mm SFF-BP USD Forks at the front, while a Monoshock Damper with a Prolink Swingarm at the rear. Thanks to this suspension setup, you will be able to easily maneuver this street fighter through traffic and narrow urban streets despite its big frame. 

You can also confidently hit turns or corners at high speeds with this naked bike. And, on top of this, it absorbs bumps and other road imperfections effectively. Ultimately, this suspension setup delivers just the right balance of firmness and comfort, allowing you and your pillion to achieve a very satisfying riding experience both on and off-road. 

The Honda CB1000 Hornet is powered by a 1,000 cc, liquid cooled, DOHC 4-stroke, 16-valve, 4-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power output of 113 kW and a maximum torque of 105 Nm. It runs on a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. 

This street fighter is incredibly fast off the line and offers a smooth power delivery. On the highway, you will be able to overtake slower vehicles with this bike effortlessly. And, as it goes up the rev range, its engine produces a very satisfying roar. In terms of efficiency, it also has a pretty decent fuel economy even when cruising at low speeds. Hence, it is a feasible ride for your daily commute within the Metro. Overall, this big bike is a smooth and efficient city cruiser and an even capable highway runner.

In terms of safety, the Honda CB1000 Hornet is equipped with the Honda Ignition Security System. Its braking setup is also supported by a 2-channel anti-lock braking system. This street fighter utilizes 310 mm double discs for front braking, while a 240 mm single disc for the rear. Its setup delivers a very responsive stopping force, ensuring that you and your pillion are safe at all times.

In my opinion, the Honda CB1000 Hornet delivers a high value for money (despite its pretty hefty price tag). It is a near-perfect naked bike that can deliver the best of both worlds: comfort and performance. It truly deserves the title ‘alpha’ just by how capable and feature-packed it really is.
