Fuso FJ 1823R

The overall interior cabin of the Fuso FJ 1823R seems much more premium than the other lower positioned light-duty trucks as well as the FI 1217R which is positioned below it in the medium-duty trucks lineup.

The layout of the dashboard looks very fresh and proportioned with their curved design which flows from both left and right towards the center console, which protrudes slightly outwards. The four-spoke steering wheel, which is both tilt and telescopic adjustable, is placed very ergonomically, whereas the rectangular instrument console looks very comprehensive with orange backlit MID cluster. The center console looks simple, with rectangular AC vents and a small panel for the provision of an audio system.

The cabin is decently kitted with a few modern features like tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, power windows and powered door locks.

The Fuso range of trucks is already one of the best in business when it comes to visual appeal, and the Fuso FJ 1823R, being one of the more premium offerings of the Japanese truck maker, has a smart and modern design. 

The slightly curved windscreen of the Fuso FJ 1823R has angular edges at the bottom and rounded edges on the upper corners and covers almost half of the front fascia of the truck. The windscreen has been adorned with a long horizontal black panel, which has mounts for the dual windshield wiper and dual grab handles.

The lower second half of the front fascia of the Fuso FJ 1823R has rounded vertical edges on the sides, which comes with slightly curved panels which accentuate its width even more. The entire width is covered here by a very wide trapezoidal front grille with the horizontal upper portion of it stretched from end to end. The T-shaped black garnish, along with the honeycomb mesh pattern of the grille, makes the front end look a bit busy.

The small trapezoidal headlamps with curved inner edges have been positioned on the corners of the front bumper, the inner boundary of which come equipped with daytime running LED strips. There is a long horizontal garnish around the license plate housing. 

The side portion of the passenger cabin of the Fuso FJ 1823R has been designed quite simply, with a rather smaller window panel, which gets curved edges. Both the upper and lower front edges have mounts for the dual rearview mirrors, while there is an additional mirror mounted on the upper-left edge of the roof. A heavy cladding work finished in grey is there over the semi-trapezoidal wheel arches, which also come integrated with turn indicators.

The Fuso FJ 1823R has been armed with parabolic leaf spring with shock absorber and reverse Elliot axle at the front and semi-elliptical suspension with auxiliary springs and fully floating axle at the rear. The Fuso FJ 1823R is equipped with pneumatically operated spring actuator with hand brake valve acting on the rear axle for braking purposes.

Powering the Fuso FJ 1823R is a 6.4-litre inline-six diesel engine, which is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. With a maximum power output of 238 PS and a maximum torque output of 850 Nm, the engine of the Fuso FJ 1823R seems refined and powerful for its size.

The Fuso F 1823R is the most affordable truck in the lineup of Fuso trucks to feature anti-lock braking system (ABS), and along with it, it also gets collapsible steering column, side-impact beams and three-point seat belts.

For a medium-duty truck, the Fuso F 1823R gets some seriously heavy-duty mechanical setup, including the big and powerful engine on offer, which offers humongous torque. Also, the additional features and novelty factor of the Fuso F 1823R makes it a more considerable option over light-duty trucks.
