JAC King

On the inside, the JAC King carries a very simple layout for the cabin, which however looks much more upmarket than what the competition is offering right now.

The JAC King comes with a four-spoke tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, which has a simple but nicely laid out instrument console behind it. The center console has a smooth layered out design from the top and is divided into two parts – while the left one accommodates a 1-DIN audio system and a panel for automatic climate control switches below it, the right one has two rectangular open slots for storage purposes.

The instrument console is flanked with vertical rectangular AC vents on its either sides, with another one placed at the other corners of the dashboard. As with other trucks, the JAC King too comes with a closed glove box on the passenger side and a couple of more storage bins.

The JAC King is not a revolutionary product when it comes to design and visual appeal. The truck has a very simple looking design, which is purely functional and looks quite proportionate for a truck of its size.

The large windshield of the JAC King comes with rounded corners, with its lower edges having a tapered design. The front apron has a rectangular design, which is characterized by a large panel which is adorned with a bold JAC logo on its end. This front apron ends up with a large rectangular grille, which comes adorned with two sleek looking chrome slabs – one H-shaped and one sleek line below it. 

The lower corners of the front profile of the JAC King come fitted with large vertically placed trapezoidal headlamps, with the upper portion having turn indicators and the lower one having the main headlights. The front profile ends up with a sleek looking bumper, which comes fitted with round fog lamps on either corners, with two rectangular cavities placed adjacent to them inwards. 

The side profile of the JAC King too has been styled quite simply, with very large side window panels having steeply tapering down shoulder line. The semi-rounded wheel arches of the JAC King’s front wheels come with smooth looking curves above them, while the bottom of the side door panels come fitted with ovular looking turn indicators on them. The door panels also come hinged with two rearview mirrors, one each mounted above and below the side windows. The door handles and rearview mirrors are finished in black.

All the variants of the JAC King come fitted with a taper leaf spring setup for the suspension at both front and rear. While the suspension setup of the truck seems primitive, it gives a very good load carrying capacity to the truck – 6000 kg for the King 14, 8000 kg for the King 16 and 10000 kg for the King 18. An auto adjustable full air operated service brake performs the braking duties on the JAC King.

The JAC King range of light-duty trucks comes with two different engine options on offer. First is a CUMMINS ISF3.8s4R141 series engine, which makes 143 PS, with this engine reserved for the King 14 range. The King 16 and King 18 range comes with the same CUMMINS ISF3.8s4R141, but in a slightly more powerful state of tune, with the maximum power output rated at 156 PS.

The JAC King range comes with ABS and retractable seat belts for both of its passengers. 

The limited reach, availability and after-sales support of the JAC King might put off some of the potential buyers. However, the slightly modern cabin and ample load-carrying capacity of the JAC King are a couple of factors that are hard to ignore.
