T-King Neptune 2

The interior of the T-King Neptune 2 is not too feature-equipped and misses out even on essentials like power windows. However, what catches the attention here is the car-like layout of the dashboard, which even with the bare basics, look too nice and better than the cabin of other light-duty trucks on sale.

The driver’s cockpit of the truck looks a bit simple with the dated-looking three-spoke steering wheel and an analog instrument console. However, the center console looks nice and comes with a 1-DIN audio system in its middle. Other main highlights of the cabin are piano black touches for the AC vents and a sleek faux carbon fibre streak running across the dashboard.

The flair-less design of the T-King Neptune 2 is not too fresh and modern to look at. However, the design is quite mature and is not something that can be ticked off as bad and too archaic. Another factor that helps the matter is the well-proportioned stance and dimensions, which give it an edge over other light-duty trucks.

The half of the front profile of the T-King Neptune 2 is covered up by the huge windshield, which has a tapering down design and ends up with a broad black garnish below it. Spread across the width of the front, this black garnish comes with ‘T-King’ lettering in the middle of it, thus adding some bold appeal to it. The rearview mirrors are hinged to the corners of this black garnish. 

The rest of the front profile of the T-King Neptune 2 carries forward the simple design with a front grille at the bottom. Shaped like a smile, this grille has a horizontal garnish running in the middle of it and gets a rounded QSJ logo above it. 

The sides of the grille get the main headlamps mounted on the lower corners of the front apron. Integrated with projector bulbs and turn indicators within them, these headlamps look quite large for a truck of this size. In addition, the truck also gets small fog lamps mounted on the sleek front bumper at the bottom. 

Coming to the side profile, the T-King Neptune 2 becomes even simpler to look at, with a couple of mild highlights to it. The first is the large window panels, which get smooth and curved waistline and the other is a sharp curved line flowing across the width of the door panel. This curved line emerges from the upper tip of the headlamp and flows to the back of the cabin.

The setup of basic leaf springs at both front and rear make the suspension combination of the T-King Neptune 2 very simple and dated. While this might not translate into a plush ride quality, the suspension is rigid and tough enough to take all beating and heavy loads without breaking much sweat. The longer wheelbase over the Neptune D makes the loading bay of the T-King Neptune 2 longer.

The T-King Neptune 2 is powered by the same CY4100Q series inline-four diesel engine, which powers its shorter version, the Neptune D. However, the power and torque figures are kept undisclosed by T-King. With a top speed of 100 kmph, the truck comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox as the standard transmission option.

When it comes to safety, the T-King Neptune 2 gets only non-adjustable seat belts on offer.

The T-King Neptune 2 might not be the best light-duty truck on sale due to its too simple nature in both styling and performance. However, for its price, the truck serves decently on all the parameters.
