Similar to other Chevrolet models, like the Camaro, the interior of the 5th-generation Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is predominantly jet black in colour. Although the interior is not that flashy nor youthful, it gives off a premium minimalistic look, perfect for those who prefer quiet luxury. This model is equipped with a 10.2-inch Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment System that offers Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth and is linked to a high-end Bose 9-speaker sound system. Additionally, the driver has access to an 8-inch multi-colored driver information console that is programmable and can provide multiple information, ensuring a smooth and properly-monitored driving experience.

But, the main strength of its interior doesn’t come from its premium leather upholstery nor its hi-tech features, but from its spacious cabin with a generous amount of cargo space and legroom. Its cabin ensures that all passengers are relaxed and can move freely. Hence, this sets it apart from other full-size SUVs in terms of balancing comfort and capacity.

On the outside, the Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 exudes might and a bold stance. Its highly-noticeable active grille shutters showcases Chevrolet’s iconic facial feature, much like the Camaro and the Suburban. Its rectangular LED headlamps have an Intellibeam feature and are partnered with a pair of DRLs, which are sculpted in a unique curve. It is also equipped with a high approach front skid plate that allows it to maximize its off-road capabilities. 

At the rear, it is equipped with an LED high mount stop lamp that serves as an additional safety feature. It is also made with a spoiler for a more sporty look. Another good thing about its exterior is that it has roof rack side rails for mounting gears and equipment. Overall, its exterior is designed for both elegance and adventure. In terms of size, it is 5,352 mm in length, 2,057 mm in width, and 1,928 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,071 mm and a ground clearance of 203 mm. 

In terms of the suspension combination, the Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is equipped with an independent suspension both at the front and rear. How the car runs depending on the type of road is also adjustable thanks to its Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system. Overall, this car offers a very comfortable ride for all passengers, overshadowing the fact that it is a gigantic SUV.

Although the eight-cylinder, 5.3L, 16-valve, V8 gasoline engine of the 5th-generation Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is equipped with an EcoTec3 system that shuts down four of its eight cylinders when not used and has a start-stop function, the car has poor fuel economy overall. It consumes much more fuel compared to one of, if not its biggest rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser. Hence, it is not an ideal daily car in this country. 

However, performance-wise, it is definitely powerful. Its V8 engine produces a maximum power output of 355 hp and a maximum torque of 518 Nm. This runs on a 10-speed automatic transmission system and utilizes an Auto 4WD drive wheel, which offers selectable drive modes. In addition, this car also has a good throttle response, which makes it decent for high-speed driving.

Worry-free driving is also possible in the 5th-generation Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 since it is equipped with an advanced driver assistance system which provides surround vision, lane keep and rear park assistance features, following distance indicator, automatic emergency and front pedestrian braking, a tire pressure monitoring system, and alerts for forward collision, lane change, rear pedestrian, and rear cross traffic. It is also made with standard safety features and comes with enhanced stability control, allowing the driver to have better stability while driving. In terms of braking setup, it utilizes a ventilated disc for both the front and rear. This setup reduces the vehicle’s tendency to overheat and gives it better ventilation while on the road. 

So far, the Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is the best of its kind here in the country. You will surely enjoy driving this whenever your family and friends would like to go on a trip either via highway or off-road. However, its price heavily impacts its selling value among Filipino consumers since its competitors offer almost the same set of features for lower prices.
