20 Ferrari 250 GTOs Return Home to Mark its 55th Anniversary
Twenty of only 36 Ferrari 250 GTO cars ever built returned "home" to Ferrari's Maranello plant in Italy recently to mark the model's 55th anniversary.
Built from 1962 to 1964, the car was created to allow the Italian carmaker to race in the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile's (FIA) Group 3 Grand Touring class. Today, the Ferrari 250 GTO is considered one of the most famous and most desired Ferraris of all time.
The 20 250 GTOs first crossed the hills of the Chianti region in Italy before proceeding to the Mugello circuit to honor its rich history of motorsport victories. The cars then returned "home" to parade around on Ferrari's famed Fiorano track before continuing to the Maranello plant.
