Artes gets MMDA chairmanship position anew

Romando Artes was given the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairmanship role anew, replacing Engineer Carlo Dimayuga III.

Artes confirmed his new role after being officially appointed as the agency’s acting chairman by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a statement, Artes expressed his gratitude for the trust accorded to him by the country’s chief executive. 

According to Artes, the MMDA is close to his heart after serving as the agency’s Assistant General Manager (AGM) for Finance and Administration, General Manager, and Chairman during the term of then-President Rodrigo Duterte.

 He noted that it was during his stint as AGM for Finance and Administration that the agency received an “unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit for three consecutive years” — the highest audit rating given to government agencies for good financial management.

“I also spearheaded the construction of the new MMDA Building in Pasig City and provided assistance to the Department of Health's vaccination campaign by launching and implementing the Resbakuna Kids Drive in the agency,” he added.

Further, Artes vowed that he would continue the reforms that he and his predecessors have started and is set to inject new programs and projects “to further improve metro-wide services for the benefit of all Metro Manila residents and the general public.”
