Automobile Barcelona Celebrates 100 Years
Automobile Barcelona, Spain’s oldest trade show, is celebrating its centenary edition from May 11 to 19. For the first time ever, the Spanish international motor show organized by Fira de Barcelona is showcasing 45 vehicle brands, almost twice the number of exhibitors last year.
A total of 42 cars also premiered at the event.
According to the organizers, this year's event offers a nod to the past while looking ahead into the future. Some of the exhibits revisit the show’s past 100 years, the centerpiece of which is the ‘Génesis’ audiovisual display that provides an interactive and immersive journey through the show’s history.
But most provides a glimpse into mobility and autonomous technologies, both current and upcoming such as the PAL-V car that can transform into a helicopter.
To accommodate the unprecedented scope of Automobili Barcelona’s centennial, this year’s event is held at the historical Montjuïc Hill and cover almost 400 sq.km.
Aside from 45 participating car manufacturers, there are also 139 exhibitors from other automotive industry-related companies attending the event.
