Bentley Says Goodbye to the Mulsanne with Final 6.75 Edition

The Mulsanne may be saying goodbye, but Bentley is making sure it goes out with a bang. As Bentley’s flagship model reaches the end of its production run, the UK-based company is celebrating the departure of the Mulsanne with a final special edition.

Based on the Mulsanne Speed, the Mulsanne 6.75 is inspired by the iconic 6 ¾ liter engine, the longest serving V8 in continuous production worldwide. The 6 ¾ engine used in the 6.75 Edition Mulsanne is the very same engine used to power the 1959 Bentley S2.

The exterior of the 6.75 Mulsanne features chrome trimmed headlights and taillights, the Flying B hood ornament, and a dark themed grille and exhaust outlets. The special edition Mulsanne is fitted with gorgeous 21 inch five spoke wheels with gloss black pockets.

Getting inside a Mulsanne may be special, but the cabin of a 6.75 Mulsanne is even more so. The special model has 6.75 Edition embroidery on the leather appointed seats, and the Bentley “B” insignia on the vent controls. The interior theme will be available in four single tone hides – Imperial Blue, Beluga, Fireglow and Newmarket Tan, complete with Silver accents throughout the cabin.

The center console stack and rear cabin console will be finished in silver-painted veneer – with a unique metal commemorative plaque fitted to the front console.

As the 6.75 Edition only comes with cosmetic changes, the special edition Mulsanne’s foundation is based on the Mulsanne Speed, the most powerful four door car in the world. Its 6¾ liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that is capable of producing 530 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and a whopping 1,100 Nm of torque. The highest torque of any four-door luxury car, the Mulsanne Speed delivers 5 perceng more brake horsepower and 8% more torque than its base Mulsanne sibling. The Speed goes from a complete standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, and reaches breakneck speeds of 305 km/h.

“The Mulsanne has played a pivotal role in maintaining Bentley’s position as global leader of the luxury limousine segment. The flagship of our model range, its longevity is a testament to our ongoing commitment to hand-building the finest motor cars in the world. The new Mulsanne 6.75 Edition is the culmination of that achievement,” Chris Craft, Member of the Board, Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales at Bentley Motors shares. “While production of the Mulsanne will end in Spring 2020, this decision has been taken at a time when we are experiencing significant customer demand across our other existing model lines. As such, we will be redeploying all of our manufacturing colleagues who currently work on the Mulsanne to other areas of the business.” Bentley will only produce 30 samples of the Mulsanne 6.75 Edition before finally saying goodbye on the spring of 2020. The Bentley Flying Spur will replace the Mulsanne as the brand’s flagship model shortly after.
