The Mitsubishi Xpander has been one of the more popular MPVs in the segment, thanks to its aggressive looks and modern amenities. Mitsubishi even expanded (pun intended) the nameplate’s offerings with the introduction of the Xpander Cross last year and the Xpander Black Series this year.
Luckily, Mitsubishi customers need not keep up with the newer (and more expensive) models just to experience the Xpander difference. Join us to find out what’s it like to ride inside the base variant of Mitsubishi’s popular MPV.
The Mitsubishi Xpander GLX is equipped with a durable three-spoke urethane steering wheel. Despite its lack of soft-touch leather, the steering wheel of the Xpander’s base variant still comes with the basic controls found on the higher variants like audio controls and cruise control.
Like the steering wheel on the higher trims, the one on the GLX model has tilt and telescopic adjustment.
Unfortunately, you won’t get the seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with the GLS and the variants ahead of it. However, you get a decent 2-DIN audio system with tuner that has USB and Aux-in ports and is iPod-ready — if you still have one of those. Audio is sent to the four speakers found inside the vehicle.
Navigation is not available, for obvious reasons.
The interior of the Mitsubishi Xpander’s base model makes use of hard plastics which can be found all over the cabin. The dashboard and the door trims feature hard plastic with a leather stitch design.
The Mitsubishi Xpander offers about 150 liters of luggage space which expands to about 1,600 liters of space with the third-row seats folded.
Owners wouldn’t have to worry about their tools at the back thanks to the generous compartment space under the floor.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is currently offered in four variants with the base model priced at P1,008,000.
