KEY TAKEAWAYS
What will be the fuel price adjustments this week?
This week, companies shall twice jack up the price of diesel by P2.60 per liter, gasoline by P1.75 per liter, and kerosene by P2.40 per liter. When will the price movements take effect?
The adjustments in the pricing will be implemented tomorrow (June 24) and another one later this week.Based on their respective advisories, Caltex, Cleanfuel, and Petron will implement the following pump price hikes on Tuesday:
Product |
Price adjustment (in Peso per liter) |
Diesel |
P2.60 |
Gasoline |
1.75 |
Kerosene |
P2.40 |
Aside from that, Caltex, and Petron also announced that they will have another round of adjustment on June 26 that will show the same movement in pricing.
Other players are expected to follow suit.
The staggered price adjustment for this week was the result of the meeting between the Department of Energy (DOE) and the country’s downstream oil industry representatives following the rising global oil prices caused by geopolitical tensions between Iran and Israel and market volatility.
“Our dialogue with industry players today reflects our shared commitment to balance economic realities with the need to shield our people from sudden price shocks, and we are pleased to report that they have responded positively to our request,” DOE Officer-in-charge Sharon Garin said.
“We have also urged oil companies to increase the number of their retail stations offering fuel discounts to the transport sector,” she added. “This forms part of our broader efforts to alleviate the burden on vulnerable groups. We will address this in detail during our individual meetings with the oil companies on Wednesday, 25 June 2025.”
Meanwhile, energy department undersecretary undersecretary Alessandro Sales — who supervises the DOE-Oil Industry Management Bureau, noted the need for cooperation between the public and private sectors.
“We are closely monitoring global oil price benchmarks and foreign exchange trends, but we also urge them to exercise prudence in passing on cost changes to consumers,” he said. “Much of the recent price volatility is being driven not by actual supply disruptions, but by speculative trading due to geopolitical uncertainties,” Sales explained.
As of today, the average pump price of gasoline stands at:
Product |
Average pump price (in Peso per liter) |
Gasoline |
P55.90 |
Diesel |
53.40 |
Kerosene |
70.22 |
Further, the country’s energy department said that it will continue to implement measures to ensure adequate domestic fuel supply — which include compliance with mandatory inventory requirements for oil companies. It is also working to activate existing safety nets such as fuel subsidies and coordinated action among relevant government agencies to protect the most affected sectors.
Garin will meet with officials from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) to discuss the timely rollout of targeted subsidies for public transport drivers and farmers, should the average price of crude oil hit the $80 per barrel threshold. At the time of posting, the average price of Dubai crude oil stands at $75.16 per barrel.
Meanwhile, the DOE urged the public to practice fuel conservation measures such as:
- Carpooling
- Avoiding unnecessary idling
- Observing correct tire pressure
- Regular vehicle maintenance
