Confirmed: Kia PH to launch Sonet

Shortly after releasing teasers over its official Facebook page, Kia Philippines verified the entry of the Sonet badge in the local market.

The Ayala-led distributor formally announced the arrival of Kia’s latest offering in the country — which will have its local debut in June — by sharing photos of the initial batch of units parked inside a Philippine port.

According to the Korean automaker’s local arm, bringing in the Kia Sonet to the country shows its commitment of giving the Philippine market a “diverse range of high-quality vehicles.”

Customers who are eyeing to get their hands on the Kia Sonet — which has an indicative price of P770,000 — may reserve a unit at their preferred Kia dealership nationwide.

“The Kia Sonet is one of the most popular models in Kia’s global lineup, and it promises to fulfill the needs of young individuals and families with its crossover credentials and rich feature set,”  Kia Philippines Chief Operating Officer Brian Buendia was quoted as saying.

Kia Philippines has yet to reveal the small sport utility vehicle’s official specifications and other related details.

However, given the local trend, the Philippine-spec Kia Sonet might be equipped with either a 1.2 naturally-aspirated or 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (banking more on the former).
