EDSA-Kamuning Flyover southbound to reopen tomorrow

EDSA-Timog Flyover

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the southbound direction of the EDSA-Timog Flyover in Quezon City will again be open to motorists starting tomorrow afternoon.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Why was the EDSA-Timog Flyover southbound lane closed since June 25?

The portion of the road was closed to traffic to pave way for the infrastructure's major repair.
  • What time will DPWH reopen the aforementioned segment of the road?

The EDSA-Timog Flyover southbound will be reopened starting 5 p.m. tomorrow.
  • According to DPWH Quezon Second District Engineer Eduardo Santos, vehicles may ply the 527.15-meter portion of the road beginning 5 p.m. of Saturday (July 23) following its completion.

“We are happy to report that we were able to deliver on the given 30-day timetable despite the intermittent rain showers experienced in the past weeks”, Santos was quoted as saying.

On June 25, the department started repairing the area after seeing large cracks and potholes on the aforementioned infrastructure, closing all three lanes to traffic.

Following the closure, DPWH National Capital Regional Director Nomer Abel Canlas sought for a thorough assessment on major bridges and flyovers around Metro Manila — especially aging structures.
