‘Egay’ onslaught: partial damage at P2.66 billion

The damage cost due to Super Typhoon Egay (international name Doksuri) has already reached P2.66 billion.

  • According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) the partial damage amount is from P887.1 damage to roads, P48.2 million damage to bridges, and P1.73 billion in flood-control structures.

    In addition, the agency shared that as noontime today (July 28), 25 roads that were closed due to inclement weather condition were reopened but 21 areas remain impassable.

    The DPWH Bureau of Maintenance reported that 14 roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), six in Region I, two in Region II, and one each in Regions III, IV-B, and VI have been reopened for vehicle traffic.

    Abra

    • Abra-Ilocos Norte Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees
    • Abra-Ilocos Sur Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees

    Apayao

    • Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road sections in Madduang and Musimut, Kabugao due to soil erosion
    • Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, sections in Eva, Naguilian, Poblacion, and Ferdinand in Naguilian, Calanasan due to roadcut and soil collapse;
    • Apayao - Ilocos Norte Road, intermittent sections in Namaltugan, Calanasan due to soil collapse

    Benguet

    • Gibraltar Road, Gibraltar, Baguio City due to fallen tree and fallen electrical post
    • Bado Dangwa National Road (intermittent sections in Sawmill and Ay-ay, Ampusongan; Liwang, Dalipey; Gold Star and Sinipsip, Gambang all in Bakun due to soil collapse 

    Ifugao

    • Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road in Tukucan, Tinoc due to eroded carriageway

    Kalinga

    • Kalinga - Abra Road in Balbalasang, Balbalan due to landslide

    Mountain Province

    • Baguio – Bontoc Road, Mt. Data section in Bauko, Mt. Province to ensure safety of the public
    • Province - Cagayan via Tabuk - Enrile Road, Pakkil section in Bontoc, Mt. Province due to soil erosion
    • Sagada - Besao - Quirino – Ilocos Sur Road, Banguitan section in Besao, Mt. Province due to soil collapse

    Region 1:

    Ilocos Norte

    • Laoag-Sarrat-Piddig-Solsona, De Batac Bridge in Barangay 3 Loing, Piddig due to collapsed bridge abutment

    Ilocos Sur

    • Vigan-Sta. Catalina Road, Pantay-Daya Bridge due to scoured bridge abutment
    • Quirino-Pandan Road, Quirino-Pandan Bridge due to scoured bridge abutment
    • Tagudin-Cervantes Road (intermittent sections) due landslide and soil erosion;
    • Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road K0387+000 due to soil erosion;
    • Cervantes-Mankayan-Abatan Road K0391+200 and K0391+200 section in Barangay Comillas North, Cervantes due to soil erosion;
    • Santiago-Banayoyo-Lidlidda-San Emilio K0376+200 due to high water elevation; 

    Pangasinan

    • Pangasinan-Nueva Vizcaya Road, intermittent sections in Barangay Malico, San Nicolas due to soil erosion;

    Region 2:

    Cagayan

    • Cagayan-Apayao Road, Itawes Bridge, Tuao, Cagayan due to high water elevation.

    DPWH Regional Offices CAR, Region I, and Region III also reported that the following nine road sections have limited access:

    • Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, Cabaroan, Danglas, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to collapsed pavement
    • Bado Dangwa National Road in Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse
    • Banaue - Hunduan - Benguet Boundary Road sections in Bokiawan and Abatan, Hungduan, Ifugao one lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse
    • Tagudin- Cervantes Road (S00140LZ), K0341+850, K00341+960, K0342+300, K0342+400, K0342+800, K0342+900, and K0378+100, Ilocos Sur, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to landslide
    • Cervantes- Mankayan- Abatan Road (S00142LZ), K0391+200, Ilocos Sur, passable to light vehicles only due to soil erosion
    • Luna - Bangar Road K0306+000- K0307+000, La Union, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding
    • Manila North Road in Barangay Wakas and Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding
    • Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road, intermittent sections in Brgy San Gabriel, Macabebe, Pampanga, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding
    • Romulo Highway, section in Barangay Cacamilingan sur, Camiling, Tarlac, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding.
