European electric vehicle (EV) users can now use their &Charge points to redeem charging credits on Volkswagen’s charging apps following the recent partnership between Volkswagen’s subsidiary, Elli and the EV charging platform &Charge.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How can &Charge users collect kilometers?

&Charge users can collect kilometers by evaluating charging stations or by purchasing from any of &Charge’s partner shops.
  • Which Volkswagen charging apps accept &Charge kilometers?

Per Volkswagen, apps like Elli, Seat, Cupra, and Škoda Auto charging applications will accept &Charge kilometers.
  • “Partnerships like the one with &Charge help to establish and successfully shape a customer-friendly overall ecosystem for electric cars. Active feedback from customers is extremely important, and we at Elli have always been convinced of this. We, therefore, appreciate &Charge's innovative approach and look forward that in future customers will exchange &Charge kilometers for charging vouchers,” said Elli Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Simon Löffler.

Users who use the &Charge app can collect points, or kilometers, by completing various activities using the application. Activities that would earn them kilometers include evaluating charging stations or purchasing from any of &Charge’s partner shops.

EV drivers who provide, for example, live information on the &Charge app about the charging infrastructure and the recently completed charging process will receive a reward of at least 10 &Charge kilometers for each contribution.

The &Charge kilometers they earned can now be used on any of Volkswagen’s charging apps including Elli, Seat, Cupra, and Škoda Auto applications.

Actively participating in activities and using the &Charge app also rewards users with points called “enthusiast points.” These points will enable users to obtain additional benefits on the &Charge platform on a step-by-step basis.

“Working with Elli represents a huge milestone for us. We are working together to make the charging of electric cars more affordable and are contributing to the success of e-mobility. &Charge and Elli are two companies that focus on creating a seamless and holistic charging experience for drivers of electric cars. This partnership represents an important step towards a real charging experience. It will set new standards in the e-mobility eco-system,” commented &Charge Chief Sales Officer (CSO) and Co-founder of &Charge.

This initiative from Volkswagen and &Charge can somehow be likened to the Kiri project launched by Jeep earlier this year, which rewards EV customers with KiriCoins — a digital currency — that can be used to purchase goods and services.
